SHANER4 (370), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Mar 10, 2009 1 pt. 9.4 oz. bottle - Poured cloudy straw color with huge foaming head and alot of chunks floating around.
Aroma - yeast, wheat, light citrus and opium.
Flavor - bread, spice, citrus, alcohol and pineapple.
Palate - medium bodied with alot of carbonation. Finish is dry and bitter with a somewhat metallic aftertaste.
Overall - Well crafted beer except for the huge soapy head. It foamed up like vinegar and baking soda. It also tastes better when it warms, flavor seem to blend better. hopheaven (83), Eureka, California, USA Mar 9, 2009 Insanely carbonated, it blew across the room as I opened the bottle, spilling hafl the beer before I could plug the spout.
Has a Belgian yeast nose, fruity and vinous, of oranges and pineapples floating atop a glass of wine. Earthy hops come through as well.
Sweet and full bodied, almost syrupy. Has a mild spiciness but the hop flavor is more citrus. Has the candy-like sweetness of an American IPA but the bold malty goodness of a Belgian. Alcohol is hidden well. Slightly dry finish. Great melding of the two cultures. Worthy of having another! AlabastorJones (762), San Francisco, California, USA Mar 8, 2009 Light, lofty, bright hop bitters and sprtizy lime banana pineapple belgian yeast flavors, 9% is well hidden, though it is mildly warming, great great beer, wonderful delicate flavors MrGGen (221), Italy Mar 8, 2009 Updated: May 4, 2009Delicato colore giallo banana, schiuma bianca, compatta, quasi cremosa.L’aroma di lievito, luppolo,un pò pepato con sentori di banana e ananas.Sapore morbido e rotondo,a sprazzi quasi di limone.Una eccellente tripel. ben4321 (957), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 5, 2009 Location: On tap at the Blind Tiger Feb ’09
Overall Impression: Really enjoyable beer. Combines the hoppiness of an IPA with the flavors and complexity of a nice Tripel, and while it’s not in the IPA mold the name might suggest, it still works. meeple (52), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 5, 2009 Bottle. Little shook up, foamed over on opening. Tangerine color, thick ivory head with good retention, awesome lacing. Smells spicy, not very hoppy. Spicy, malt, a little biscuit, citrus/floral hop, bitter finish. Not as crazy as I was expecting, a hopped up tripel rather than an IPA with belgian flavor. Damn nice drinkable belgian, hops keep it interesting.
Blaketj80 (78), Oklahoma, USA Feb 28, 2009 Open the bottle carefully. An interesting brew. I would call it a dry trippel. Pours with substantial white head and yeast cloudiness. Has faint aroma of hops and yeast. A bit overcarbed and almost watery over the tongue. It has good flavor, but not full and robust. Worth a try and would make a good bridge to the moderate beer drinker. brigg (213), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Feb 23, 2009 (750 mL bottle) Big creamy white head, and a cloudy golden-orange body. Lots of thick lace on the glass. Aroma is sweet with banana, yeast, light floral hops, and spice. Same fruity banana, yeast, and spice in the flavor, but quite dry. Has the tripel character, but more hoppy. Medium to full-bodied. This beer suites me very well at the moment as I always love tripels, but have been on an IPA kick lately.
