BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Feb 23, 2009 750 ml. bottle from Trinity Liquors in Spring Hill, FL. Pours a cloudy amber with a thick, off-white head that lasts forever. Aroma is very hoppy as well as a lot of grapefruit and florals. Flavor is mostly bitter grapefruit and yeast as well as a bit of alcohol. A lot of carbonation in the mouthfeel, nice warming feel. I like this alot...very balanced. I love this style, I didnt enjoy this quite as much as the Green Flash Le Freak. bretupdegraff (172), Fishers, Indiana, USA Feb 21, 2009 This is a really good - thanks to JEremy A for this! nice pic - I would not have tried this style on my own. Very cloudy (flavor?) yellow with Massive head. Very hoppy and bready taste - very nice Gabler (86), , New York, USA Feb 21, 2009 Cloudy yellow with a ridiculous head. I can look at this beer for a very long time. I suppose I can smell it for a while too, I love the doughy yeast aroma. Dry mouthfeel, nice bitterness and alcohol mixed with spices. Looonnnggg finish with a great alcohol bite. I can drink a lot of this beer. I love that damn little gnome, he can pick ’em. mrant (330), New York, USA Feb 17, 2009 Smells of astrigent, grassy hops. Pours a nice hazy orange/yellow with a monstrous fizzy white head. Taste is very unique: strong up front of boozey, rubbing-alcohol-type flavor, giving way to a pleasant hop sourness, though without the citrus flavor. Very complex and flavorful. Tasty and very different. GardenGabe (125), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 17, 2009 Updated: Apr 2, 2009Huge head, light and creamy with lots of staying power, light bubbles and persistent lacing. Very light golden color slightly hazy. The nose has some grapefruit, lemon and lime, sweet, and hoppy, also banana, peach and pear.Basically a complicated beer. The taste is sweet with a somewhat hoppy finish. Bubble gum, candy sugar, and exotic fruits flavor this tingly concoction. Delightful! Bartzilla (441), San Diego, California, USA Feb 15, 2009 Are you kidding me? I haven’t rated this yet? Hm. OK, here it goes. Take the best of a West Coast IPA and mix it with a delicious Belgian tripel. I mean, that’s pretty much it. It’s delicious and, by far, my favorite Chouffe offering. Very distinct taste and created a killer souffle head upon pour. Had this in bottle, on tap and on tap in Belgium, so I’ve run the gambit from fresh to shelf on this one. Lots of breweries are doing the Blegian IPA thing these days, but this sets the benchmark. Great ale. GMCC2181 (846), Bear, Delaware, USA Feb 5, 2009 Bottle from briandorryd55, thanks brian. Light yellow/orangish color. Monster rocky head that sticks around even while you drink it. Solid aroma of hops, sweet sugar, and earthy aromas. The lacing left on the glass sticks around as well. Taste is dry, earthy notes, a nice hop bite to it. Just a touch of the sweet triple character comes through in the after taste. Mostly hop taste....Texture is light but no way weak. I would of never guessed it to be nine percent. The alcohol is hidden well. Low carbonation level. Overall this is a very unique beer. Kind of like a ipa with saison characteristics. Not like most tripels I have had. I want to call it a dirty IPA! Good beer DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Feb 3, 2009 Bottle. Potent aroma of malts and fruits and spices. Cloudy yellow body, large white head. Flavor is very hoppy, upon a background of slightly sweet fruitiness. Lots of bitterness in the finish. Huge amounts of carbonation give a tingly mouthfeel. A different order of triple, and an enjoyable innovation of the style.
