Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jan 3, 2009 33cl bottle. Poured very carefully as to avoid the yeast on the bottom. Pours a bright golden orange body with small bits of particulate floating around. Lots of rising carbonation. Even though I poured this slowly, it produced a gigantic snow-white head that remained very creamy and took absolutely forever to dissipate. While dissipating it made for some crazy looking shapes. At one point, it looked like a cookie cutter in the shape of a star had gently landed in the middle of the head. When it finally dissipated, it remained loaded with lacing and very swirly on the surface. Sexy looking beer. Aroma is heavily malted and a refined Belgian yeast strain, however the yeast is pretty mellow compared to similar styled beers. Definitely has the sweetness and spiciness characters of the tripel style. Lots of raspberry candy smells. Soft, but sharp citrus hops balance the aroma very well. Kind of sparkly or even perfume smelling. The flavor is fantastic. Its a sweeter version of any Belgian Strong Ale. Lots of fruity yeast flavors and sweetly spiced malts. Very breadlike maltiness too. Wow is this complex. Theres more of that candy sugar, some light grassy hoppiness, and a delicate bitter finish. This mouthful is great too. Its extremely soft and light, but medium to full bodied and a tickling sparkling carbonation. Overall, this is a phenomenal beer. It starts sweet and malty, then slowly moves to a delicately spiced and yeasty middle, before ending with a pinch of sweet malts and a subtle, but defined grassy bitterness. Lingers lightly as sweet, spiced, and hopped. This is one of my new all-time faves. Wow! santos999 (318), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 2, 2009 Not bad. The hops are a bit overpowering versus the delicate malt and yeast notes, leading to a slightly underwhelming beer with a long, nasty aftertaste. What flavor exist while it’s in the mouth are delicious, I just can’t believe how crappy it ends. forsides (66), union, New Jersey, USA Jan 2, 2009 pours translucent golden yellow with abundant head. beautiful grassy citrusy smell. taste starts with a nice amount of cabonation on the tongue and roof of mouth, followed by sweet/fruitiness of belgian yeast, then followed by abundant hop spicniness and aroma. saaz hops adds reminiscence of a well hopped pilsner. a wonderful marriage of styles MAP (1085), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Dec 31, 2008 Hazy yellow pour that gave quite a bit of head. Aroma is a slightly grassy Belgian with a good hint of citrus. Flavor is lightly malted and slightly sweet. It doesn’t offend the senses at all, either with too much bitterness or sweetness. This just has a nice gentle flavor that is combined with a viscous, oily mouth feel. puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Dec 22, 2008 Bottled. Poured cloudy yellow with a bright white, meringue-like head. Hops, malt, yeast, and citrus aroma. The flavor is lemonpeel, spice, and malt, with a nicely hoppy/bitter aftertaste leading to a dry finish. Ober (1161), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Dec 21, 2008 A little hazy golden colored beer, with a huge thick long staying foamy white head. The aroma of hops, malts and fruits. The taste of hop bitter with a lot of fruits like citrus. The are flowers. A complex beer. The aftertaste is long bitter dwaggs2 (531), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA Dec 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a yellowish color with a long lasting two finger white head. Smells sweet and a little hoppy. Smells of yeast. Taste is hoppy and a bit bitter. Decent beer. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 14, 2008 From 750mL. Farmhouse funky nose with yeasty and a bit sulfury hint of hop character. Light sweetness, with notes of honey, pilsner malt, and vanilla. Despite being an IPA-Tripel, so to speak, this has a fairly delicate nose. Hints of floral character with even a little bit of talc. Cloudy golden amber body with medium sized floaties of yeast. It is topped with a rocky-foamy meringue-like head with tremendous lacing. Medium body with medium carbonation and light carbonic fizz. Starts with nice neutral fruit sweetness. A bit of pear and some peach, vanilla and coriander. Very light with just a hint of honey sweetness. Mild alcohol taste with a little warming. Sweet and mellow throughout with some nice hop bittering in the finish. Yeasty chalky bitter character in the after. This is a real nice tripel and I could drink this every day.
