A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Bottle. Honey colour with frothy white head that sticks to the glass. Immediate aromas of hazelnut, followed by citrus blossom and fruit, grass and a touch of wheat spiciness. Impeccably integrated flavours of hazelnut, citrus, grassy hops, a touch of pine, banana and just a slight hint of smoke. The high abv is well hidden until it just pokes out at the end. Deliciously dry finish.

Pours a slightly hazy golden body with a huge, creamy, white head. Pretty strong aroma of fruits, and... what? Isn’t that dark caramel leaning towards burnt sugar? Surprising, given the light colour of the brew. Also some hints of Mediterranean herbs in the back. Strong flavour of generic fruits, light yeast, alcohol, herbs, pretty dark caramel and pepper in the long-lasting and quite heavy bitter alcoholic finish. The initial taste is light sweet. Mid-bodied, dry and with a rather lively carbonation. A wonderful beer that is much closer to a tripel than an IPA, without being particularly true to the tripel style either. Having said that, I find the Opperbacco TriplIPA is a more successful blend of the two styles.

330 mml Bottle tasted on 31/05/2014. Hazy golden colour with a bubby white head. Carbonation is High. Flavour is mid spicy with hops banana and sweet honey. Bitter and light spicy aftertaste. Very well balanced body and alcohol. Next one please!

Hazy gold. Medium white head. Nose is sweet and hoppy with some flavours of banana and oranges. The taste is a nice blend of hoppy and fruity aromas. Very powerfull and complex flavour with a nice bitterness.

Magnífica !!! Amarelada, levemente turva, com ótima formação de espuma branca, densa e cremosa, permanecendo durante toda a degustação. Aroma vivo, fresco, verde, cítrico, frutado, sugerindo lichia. Saborosa, amarga, corpulenta, com notas frutado-amadeiradas e novamente a lichia como sugestão; final levemente adocicado com malte marcando presença.

Bottle at home. Clear oale yellow with a large white head, ok lacings. Aroma medium malty (caramel), llight yeasty (coriander), medium hoppy. Flavor medium sweet, light spicy, light bitter, then heavy bitter, long lasting and refreshing. Medium body. Nice.

Bottle from BU, Vinmonopolet. Pours pale yellow. Some white head. Mostly bitter. Medium body and carbonation, some dry characteristics. Yeast, banana, other sweet fruit (not dark red fruit), some hop and some citrus flavour. Close to a standard triplel.

Aroma: yeast, sours, floral hops. Appearance: hazy pale gold, medium frothy white head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: dominant sweet notes, yet interruptions of bitters, dominating towards the average-long end, very hoppy, floral and some grass. Overall: nice Abbey Tripel, fantastic hops in aroma and palate. Bottle from BottleDog Kings Cross, Holborn.
