COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Bottle 330ml. Pours beautiful unclear dark golden color, with a tall, strong and long lasting foamy white head. Aroma of honey, floral, some hops, dazzling smell. Mouth feel is creamy, with medium carbonation that is well felt and suits the beer. Nice strong tang all around the mouth from hops, alcohol and carbonation. Taste is sweet is at first but is balanced well by some bitterness that is not too strong and almost disappearing in the background. Taste is strong: herbal at first, with strong hop flavors and some honey notes. Slight hop acidity, but not citrusy, more herbal. As the beer warms up a bit, flavor becomes less herbal and more spiced, with classic Belgian clove and banana flavor. More floral and honey notes and some dried fruit, yet still tangy and nicely hopy all along. Alcohol is noticeable but gentle and supporting, becoming stronger as beer warms up. Very crisp and tangy, very refreshing at first, staying quite a bit crisp and very tangy even after it warms. Ends sweetish with some tang. Leaves a very very long lasting tangy after taste of hops and yeast that is very pleasant. This is a great beer to drink slowly, and let the flavor develop as you drink. This beer doesn’t turn boring at all, every sip is interesting and calls for the next. Very very good combination of the best of a gentle IPA and a strong Belgian, even if it lacks some of the flavor complexity of the later. Splendid.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/16/2015. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon zest, orange, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, pine, clove, honey, bread, and floral/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and citrus/earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon zest, orange, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, pine, clove, honey, bread, and floral/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spice/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, orange, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, pine, light clove, honey, bread, and floral/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and citrus/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a really excellent Belgian IPA. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and citrus/earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours hazy pale yellow with a big white bubbly head. Nose is malts and floral, not very present. Taste is quite complex, begins with familiar Belgian spicy tastes, a hint of peach and it ends with a very distinctive bitterness of the hops, grapefruit and pine. Nice beer.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, bright yellow-ish golden colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity hoppy and fruity yeasty aroma, notes of peach, apricot, Saison-like yeasty overtones, slightly bready malty background. Taste is minimally biting bitter hoppy (maybe the biting is also due to a peppery spicy yeast note), cautious, slightly inexplicit fruity hints, peach and apricot again, dried yellow stone fruit in general, a slightly sweet-ish, bready malt touch; dry finish, perfectly hidden alcohol. Astonishingly light, refreshing, maybe already a bit too hoppy.

Bottle at home from early backlog notes 07. Pours a hazy golden color with a large fluffy white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet pale malts, fruity esters, citrus, floral notes, lightly toasted bread, spicy hops, easy to drink considering the 9% at the time I hadn’thad many beers that challenged sstyles like this, but thought it was good.

IPA and Belgian Tripel hybrid. Cloudy golden color with white persistent head. Aroma is nothing special, big hop presence with some citrus. Taste is much better, very fruity, with apple and lemon at the beginning and a classic IPA at the end, piny and bitter. Very balanced, alcohol seems not to be present.

Amber color, grassy, floral, hoppy aromas, lively carbonation, medium bitterness, medium body, bitter finish, interesting mix of double IPA and strong belgian ale but a little too bitter for my taste

A very pleasant beer with a nice head and good lacing. A good level of hoppyness and carbonation make it very drinkable. Bitter finish.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Sweet toffee, light honey, fizzy, sugary, dry harsh finish.
