A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Sunny gold pour with good head retention, little to no lacing. Heavy carbonation with my bottle. Sharply sweet floral aroma, very bright. Yeasty, fresh floral hop with bright malt. Alcohol well-hidden. Pretty good!!

Tap@Delirium Cafe Taphouse bar. Halmgul grumlig vätska med tunnt skum. Dofter av citrus, gräs, hö och passionsfrukt. Hög beska i smaken men inte åt det fruktiga amerikanska hållet utan mer åt torkat hö. Citrus och passionsfrukt identifieras, också.

My bottled was aged, so the hop profile was greatly sacrificed to father time, but a base flavor was still there and quality at that. Belgian yeasty goodness with sweet malts and boozy.

Cask, 6 Degrees North, Aberdeen. Pours pale amber, translucent. Light carbonation. Smell is beautiful, flower notes, full bodied. Taste is gentle but full. Served too cold.

From bottle. Crystal clear gold with fluffy head. Malt forward nose with Hoppy undertones. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Light and sparkly on the tongue. Malty flavors with good bitterness. Pretty good version of IPA

Draft at Max’s Richmond The Tripel poured a hazy gold color with a thick white foamy head and lacing. This was recommended by the waiter. It was excellent. For someone who has trouble with Belgium ales, this was very nice. This is a well balanced ale with higher hopping providing a muted bitterness. The 9% ABV was hardly noticed. The medium body Tripel had active carbonation. This style has normally not appealed to me. With higher hopping this could be a popular beer style. The finish was clean with some malt sweetness.

Robe blonde légèrement trouble. Peu de mousse. Arômes fruités puissants. Fruits rouges, agrumes.

Bottle, 330 ml. Pours extremely light yellow/amber; totally clear. Head is soapy white and dissipated quickly. No lacing. Aroma is big and fresh; citrus, grapefruit, orange perhaps layered over pine resin, floral hints and herbal edges. Underneath all of this is the trademark sweet honey malt expected of tripels. Impressed so far! The citrus and other fruity notes are pushed right to the front in the taste, perhaps overshadowing the sweet malty notes and also bringing forth some potent bitterness more characteristic of american IPAs than belgian abbey beers. Finish is also very bitter and quite dry, not lingering for too long. Alcohol is practicaly non existant flavour-wise, so the big warmth from the 9% ABV comes as a bit of a surprise for such an otherwise refreshing brew. In keeping with this the body is fairly light and crisp with somewhat lively carbonation, but this by no means results in diminished flavour. Manages to be, despite the alcohol content, quite more balanced in terms of refreshment vs flavour depth compared to its american counterparts; a most impressive and quite intriguing brew for this reason. Could see myself knocking a few of these back on a hot summer’s day (financial and intoxication considerations pending).

Gold pour, little sediment, white head that comes and goes. Nose is yeast and citrus. Bittersweet. Middle is complex interplay of spice, and orange creamsicle soft malt. Finish is dry and bitter. Delicious.
