Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

RateBeer rating: 98 Style; Glass: Abbey Tripel; Trappist Purchased at: Canal’s Lawrenceville, NJ Price: $8.99 Aroma: fruity, musky, humid, wet. Nice mix. Faint aroma, but delicious. Visuals: pale golden hazy, immense white long lasting head. Carbonation is a bit overactive, but calms down after some time. Taste: delicious, rich, hoppy, layered, nicely balanced, slight burn of alcohol. Banana, cloves, pineapple, very hoppy. Palate: back of tongue, top back, roof. finish is long, dark, deep, and fruity. This marriage of california style hops and Belgian style fruit is an instant classic for me. Overall Impressions: Banana, cherry, lemon, orange, hops, bitterness. One of my all time favorites.

Pours a cloudy gold with a head that won’t quit. Aroma is yeast and hops, spice, and sweetness. Flavor is yeast, nice bitter hops, malt with some fruit (citrus). Very good brew

Bottle in chalice. Pours hazy gold with a magnificent creamy, pillowy, rocky white head. Looks more like the head on a cappuccino than that of a beer; beautiful, and lasts forever. Aroma is citrus, yeasty, spice. Taste is complex; begins with candy-like sweetness, before moving to spicy yeast and citrus, and finishing with a dry, pronounced hop bitterness that lingers on the palate. Mouthfeel is crisp, well carbonated and with a dry finish. Intriguing and very complex beer, absolute masterpiece.

Bottle from Pix Patisserie in Portland, Oregon--Poured a light hazy amber body with a big fluffy white head. Hoppy, fruity, yeasty hopped nose. Tropical, complex, spicy piquancy quite unique to this brew.

One of the best tripels I’ve ever tasted to date. Hops and malts are perfectly aligned. Hints of bannana, citrus, apple and plums. Massive head with every pour. Hops have a pine grassy undertones and are also very complex. No alcohol aftertaste at all. Awesome Brew!!!

An incredible IPA in the Belgian style. Incredible balance of hops and malt. Nice floral and fruity flavors contribute to the hops.

Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen IPA Tripel is a hazy light amber color with a very large and nicely formed creamy off-white head. The aroma is slightly spoiled and sour. The taste is very smooth and has a great flavor with loads of malt and spices.
