reserva (30), Oud-Turnhout, Belgium Sep 7, 2009 pale, golden, cloudy, white foam, citrus, herbs, light sweetness, medium bitterness, full body, creamy, average carbonation, bitter, long finish, patrickfannon (273), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2009 Bottle. Split this beauty with Vin and Sean. Pours the most intense gold with an immense white head. Aroma is complex, sweet and filled with different hints of spice and sugar. Body is medium with a strong finish. This is, hands down, one of the best beers I’ve ever had. Highly, highly recommend. larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Sep 4, 2009 Bottled from Systembolaget
Hazy golden with a big, white head.
Yeasty rubber-like aroma.
Grassy and bitter with dry hoppiness. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 3, 2009 750 ml bottle - guessing just over a year old by the bottle code; pale gold with minor haze; huge, eggy white head fades slowly and leaves plenty of sticky lace; primary nose of grass, sweet malt, some lemon and yeast; grassy-ness dominates though; some pepper and spice come out in the flavors; would certainly like to try fresher; body is on the thin side, but plenty of texture comes out and is a little silky; bitterness in the finish and quite sweet overall; dry, fruity, spicy and actually pretty bitter the more I drink; really dig the grassy nose; yummy...great stuff!! AtlAggie (131), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 3, 2009 Bottle at the Brick Store. Clear golden pour, lovely thick foamy head, left long lingering lacing. Pretty good carbonation. Really great play off of a tripel and an IPA--neither is my favorite type of beer, but the marriage of the two creates something really lovely in this beer. Sweet fruits typical of tripels up front--banana, some citrus, vaguely grassy, but kept from being too sweet or too hot by the hoppiness that kicks in after the first taste. Finish relatively dry. Smooth beer, very easy (and enjoyable) to drink! hike20 (32), Iowa, USA Aug 30, 2009 Poured a clear golden shade with a nice lingering frothy head with thick lacing. The head reminds me of meringue, so thick is its body. Pleasant aroma with notes of yeast, hops and something perhaps citrus and sweet. I get the feeling that every time I try this I would smell something slightly different. The tase is nothing like anything I’ve tried before (I’m far from the most traveled taster). There’s definitely a hit of alcohol, but also strong hops. Malt is not left out of the picture, though, and neither are the fruity tones. Again, theres a lot of complexity here and I get a slightly different profile with each swallow. Mouth feel is light and bubbly, but not weak or thin.
I poured the last bit of the bottle into the glass to see what would happen. Now it’s cloudy with bits of yeast floating around. Not much difference in taste except perhaps for a touch more sweetness. IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 28, 2009 750 ml bottle from Imbibe Wine. Nose of yeast, cloves, banana, candi sugar, and caramel. Hazy yellow with a huge pale yellow, heavy lacing head. Flavor is lightly bitter, alcohol, pepperiness, and spices Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Aug 28, 2009 Bottle. Yellow colour with a fluffy white head. Aroma: belgian yeast, banana, lemon, wine gums, banana, cloves, hops. Flavor: belgian yeast, citrus, banana, cloves, grass, herbs, honey, pepper. Grassy, hoppy finish. The alcohol is well hidden. I usually don´t like triples that much, but this one was nice. Dangerously drinkable.
