ba2008 (25), USA Jan 2, 2008 Dark golden pour, a little cloudy/yeasty looking actually. Definitely unfiltered. Nice subdued hop aroma, more yeasty/estery/belgian aroma than a hop aroma. Awesome hop/yeast flavors. Some fruitiness from the yeast, some from the hops. Apparently the hop flavor is from Amarillo, which citrus flavors seems to work very well with the esters in the yeast. Very dry. drewbeerme (2223), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 30, 2007 sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel". pours hazy golden with creamy white head. nose is citrusy, hops, vanilla, yeasty. flavor is hoppy, faded leathery hops, citrusy. balanced. yeasty, dry finish. this wasn’t a fresh bottle as it probably had just over a year on it and although the hops weren’t fresh or bitter everything seemed perfectly balanced and a joy to drink. skortila (2879), Bunnik, Netherlands Dec 30, 2007 Bottled. Aroma has some yeast, citrus, little spice and ipa style hops. Hazy, golden coloured with a medium, lasting, white head. Taste is a little sweet with moderate bitterness. There is spice (coriander), yeast, citrus and american hoppiness. Medium bodied, dry. Good balance and complexity. caesar (3020), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands Dec 29, 2007 Bottled. Hazy golden color, thick white head. Aroma has typical triple identities like fruity and spicyness, but it’s combined with distinct hoppy aromas, quite nice. Quite bitter taste, ofcourse, nicely balanced, though complex. Dry and hoppy palate. Perfect balance, and it combines an almost perfect triple with the hoppy features of an IPA. Good job! AmazonMatt (284), Panama Dec 29, 2007 Unbalanced. Esters and hops dominate, but also sweet. I get the idea here, but I think that the experiment didn’t work. hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Dec 24, 2007 From 750 ml bottle, this poured a cloudy rich gold color. It raised a big fat head that looked like whipped cream and lasted seemingly forever. After 10 minutes there was still a big hunk floating in the glass. Amazing lacing. Really big hoppy nose, with odors of banana, cloves, coriander, citrus and yeast. Moutfeel very rich and smooth. Flavors quite complex... I detect fruits like apricots and melons, and spices like coriander and some citrus. Long dry finish. Remarkable brew and quite enjoyable. Almost like drinking wine. rauchbier (2993), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Dec 24, 2007 Tap, at ZBF 2006. Hazy gold, good white head and good conditon. Gentle peppery spicy hops and some yeastiness in the nose, good restrained honeyed maltiness in the mouth with some fruitiness and a balancing hop bitterness, lingering chalky hop bitterness in the finish.
greenleaf (90), Florida, USA Dec 24, 2007 750ml bottle. Pours golden orange with a nice white head that laces as you drink. Fruit, hops, and classic belgian high temp fermentation alcohol taste. Wonderful beer.
