Carl (11), Issaquah, Washington, USA Nov 10, 2007 Poured from the bottle a very light, clear golden color. Nice strong hop-induced aroma with floral and candy textures. The sweetness of the beer and tartness of the hops collide more than balance each other off. There’s a lot of that "expressive estery fruitness" courtesy of the Beligain yeast and brewing process. Has a nice, long finish. Not what I’m used to, but I very much enjoyed this beer. bonbright7 (173), Bellport, New York, USA Nov 10, 2007 This one made a splash in my kitchen with a tremendous uneven head that took a while to simmer down. The great malt sweetness invited my senses to take a taste of this rich and lightly spiced ale. The three hop varieties were very present as a unified whole in both taste and smell in each round of tasting. The aftertaste was a mix a candi sugar and bitterness. To my surprise, I didn’t notice the alcohol at all...until later on. This was one of the great bottles for me. ChazMania (408), Pasadena, California, USA Nov 3, 2007 Big ol bottle. This is a very nice surprise of a beer. Huge foamy head that last for a good time. Tart aroma that has citrus like quality. Flavor is as described, a very good blend between the sweet-like Beligian tripple and the balance of a good american IPA. I’d love to have this on tap. Also, the alcohol for being 9% is very hidden, although since this is my first beer in quite a few days, I’m feeling it quickly. Good beer! yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Oct 31, 2007 Bottle, 75cl. Hazy, golden body, topped by an off-white, fluffy head. Hops dominates the aroma, leaving a nice fruityness, but there’s also a malty sweetness. The flavor has piney hops, malt, and a Belgian-style sweetness. Full body, and a nice, bitter finish. Lovely blend of Belgian ale and American-style hopping. Just love those beers. (070928) drinkerofbeers (18), California, USA Oct 29, 2007 draft at hollingshead. ive had this beer a few times bottled and i was impressed but this time for some reason it was even better. pours a nice light gold with a fluffy creamy head. sweet, smooth and very nicely bitter. cheers to A’Chouffe for this great beer. Philip (436), Illinois, USA Oct 29, 2007 Pours hazy and golden with a copper hue. Excessive carbonation corrupts both appearance and flavor. Notes of mango and apricot on the nose lead into straw, ginger, and a mild hoppiness that plants the beer more in the Tripel camp than the IPA one. Alcohol feels more like 7-7.5 than 9. Good overall, but not as impressive as the numbers here would suggest. BeerBiker (1384), Odense, Denmark Oct 27, 2007 [Odense-tasting at Scheffel. Bottle bought in La Roche.] Well, indeed a very nice beer, which is a mix of many traditions. Hazy golden look with a big head. Notes of flowerhops (almost like a triple), spices, citrus, yeast, complexity, ingrediently and a bit warming. Fantastic! tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Oct 24, 2007 Bottle. Aroma of perfume, soap, grass, wet hay and spices. Citrus zest. Some honey sweetness. Pours bright gold with a big, puffy cloudlike rocky head. Flavor is dry and spicy. Definitely more like a Tripel than an IPA. Quite floral. A touch of honey. Just a hint of alcohol. Quite pleasant. Creamy on the palate. Medium to full bodied. Good carbonation. Nice.
