Ansset13 (127), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Oct 10, 2007 Pours golden straw hazy, with thick and enormous head. Nose is crisp with tones of yeast, sweet fruits and belgian sugar. The mix of styles used to brew this beer only adds to the complexity and quality of this brew. A must try beer even for those not usually fond of triples. blklab2007 (938), Connecticut, USA Oct 7, 2007 bottle poured into a chouffe glass, golden hazy in color with a huge thick frothy head and rushing carbination as poured. smell is yeasty, hops, has a sorta creaminess, and some clover and grass. taste is creamy and full of carbination, heavy yeast, lightly hopped, with some fruit hits as well. one of the better tripels that i have had, just don’t think i am a huge fan of this style. joohefner (380), Isla Vista, California, USA Oct 7, 2007 Updated: Jan 21, 2008cloudy golden with a medium creamy head. honey bread and yeast aroma with plenty of apples and cloves with a floral undertone. medium creamy body with full crisp bubbles. candied malt with citric cloves, bread notes, and a floral hop bitterness. light apple and bananas notes. scribbling down flavors as i drink, just too complex to get everything. unbelievable by far the best triple i’ve had yet LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 2, 2007 A nice and uncharacteristically hoppy abbey tripel. Aroma of sweet fruits, sugar and yeast. Pour was a medium gold with a gorgeous 3 finger white head. Taste was a complex mix of sweet sugar, fruit and caramel malt with a nice hoppy bitter aftertaste. This beer defines the word complex. Nice. Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Oct 2, 2007 Wauw.. finally I got the chance to taste this and it didn’t disappoint me. Cloudy yellow with good white head. Yeast & hops in the aroma. Very balanced & perfectly hopped. Great combination going on right here between & tripel & a Ipa. Fantastic experience. Fresh & floral! Thanks guys! thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Sep 30, 2007 Bottle @ ChristianScheffel tasting. [thank you, BeerBiker!] Pours a relatively pale yellow with a gian bubbly white head that leaves plenty of lacing around the glass. Aroma ishoppy with grassy and barnlike notes coming through as well. Nice, creamy palate. Flavour is initially sweet and slightly sugary, but there are lots of nice hops to balance it out with. Weird and wonderful. JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Sep 29, 2007 I was afraid I’d sat on this one for too long, and was worried that the hops would have dulled out and ruined the experiment. Not so! After about a year, this baby is as piquant and quirky as I remember. At the base is a very fine and bitter Belgian brew, an improbable combination of the richness and buttery flavors of certain tripels with the grassy finish of a saison, crossed with the hop punch of a DIPA. It’s like one of those menu items you read at a super fancy restaurant, thinking there’s no way all those ingredients can work together. But they do, and this does too. Rock the fuck out. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 29, 2007 Englsh style Impy IPA with Beligan tripel influence. Pine, grain, yeast, and citrus notes all jump out. Fluffy head. Fresh, wet floral aroma. 9% is apprarent, even the long after taste is a bit harsh. Overall, I say, yum.
