Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

From the tap. Pleasant aromas of strong citrus and various other fruits, the latter seeming to be a by-product of the Tripel infusion. The taste is a fine mixture of the two styles; hops, citrus, with a bit of tart that blends things together nicely. Dangerously drinkable at 9% ABV. A good idea, and well executed.

Poured a clear yellow color with a really bug head. Aroma was a mix of banana, hops and some yeast. Flavor was somewhat fruitier then the aroma indicated bananas and some citrus.. finish was hoppy and dry.

From the tap it poured a golden blonde color with nice white head that left a little lacing behind. This one was really interesting. The aroma was of citrus fruits and a good amount of hops. The flavor was much the same with the citrus flavors coming through and blending with the hops. The hops weren’t overpowering at all, which was nice. There were some sweet malts in the background with some acidity from the citrus. This was very well blended and balanced for the flavors and the hops. The finish was slightly bitter and dry, but good. A good brew that was refreshing. Nice job on this one.

Alright, well I’ve had this bottle for a while. I dunno if that will affect the hops that are in this stuff or not, it’s been in the fridge. Great golden color, massive head that settles in funny shapes, very cool. Smells nice. Not much hops, or at least nothing like what you get from an IPA. It’s got a light aroma. Yeasty, fruity. Flavor too is sorta light, but nicely presented. Some yeast, some spice, good carbonation level. It’s really delicious overall.

Bottle, chris o shindig. Hazy bright yellow, thin white head. Nose is yeasty and slightly sour tripel sherberty. Mouth is slightly sour, very well and heavily hopped. Smoothness of a tripel carries at the end.

Bottle at Chris o Shindig. One of the beers I’ve been after for ages. Gold, lasting off white head. Belgian yeast aroma and strong harsh hop. Plus tangerine tripel fruit. Good beer. Very hoppy and tangeriney. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Bottle@Home, May 09, 3.5: Fresh aroma of citrus and hops. Pale yellow colour, white head, good lace. Malt sweet, very biter, citrus, grassy. Burning from alcohol and bitterness. Powerful and very hoppy. Bottle@chris o, Aug 2007, 3.5: Citrus aroma. Hazy, yellow color, large white head, good lace. Yeasty, citrus, very bitter, light floral, dry mouthfeel. Not too complex but nice.
