pineypower (855), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Apr 26, 2006 Updated: Jun 29, 2007 Didn’t know what to think when I saw this one, but boy am I glad I picked it up. Pours out a beautiful golden color with a huge frothy thick fluffy head, if you let it sit for a minute it looks like little puffs of marshmellow. The aroma is an interesting mix of fruit and hops. The taste is very complex with a nice mouthfeel. The fruity notes are nicely complimented by the hops. Nice balance, tommahawk and amarillo are always a good choice in my book. Wonderfully complex beer, not too much like it out there, will have to try to get some more.
jgentgesdo (532), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 20, 2008 Pours a beautiful hazy golden with a huge, fluffy off-white head that lasts forever and leaves wonderful lacing on the glass. Nose is spicy candied ginger and cinnamon, cookie malts. The flavor is intensely malty and spicy, with a nice floral hops underpinning and some honey, some refreshing bitterness. Warming but not unpleasant alcohol towards the finish. Long, lingering, peppery/spicy aftertaste, with yummy hops as well. This is really good. Soonah (480), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 20, 2008 From mcbackus via trade. The pour was a cloudy golden color with a nice creamy, almost rocky head. Lots of sweetness in the aroma, grassy and fruity. Light spice and some unchecked alcohol. The flavor is grassy, herbal with plenty of yeast and some light, tart fruits. A little bit of unpleasant alcohol was noticed. The mouthfeel was nice. yesyouam (345), Fairport, New York, USA Aug 17, 2008 Sampled at the Flour City Brewers’ Fest 2008. Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen IPA Tripel is a very cloudy, pale yellow ale with many particles and a huge, white, rocky, foamy head. I smell hops here. Is this dry hopped? There is a sweetness to the aroma like raisin bread. It is medium bodied and smooth. It has a great balance between sweet, sour and bitter. It’s a hoppy tripel with notes of raisins and grass. I think this is what Ithaca was going for with their IPAbbey. dogfish120love (41), west hartford, Connecticut, USA Aug 17, 2008 pours golden. hints of fruit. not as hoppy as I expected. I wuldn’t classify this as an IPA, but I just stated drinking belgians so I will have to try some that are comparable and re-rate. maugus4ever (37), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Aug 17, 2008 Pours light gold with a very large, lasting head. I did not like this beer, although I can understand people who do. Not enough hops to have "IPA" in the title. Not for me.
