COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

The most interesting thing here is the hybrid of styles. The hops seem very well done, but I wonder if it’s the high carbonation. Either way, very tasty. This one is dangerous because it does not taste boozy at all.

Bottle at Turisten, Ljungskile. Pours hazy golden-orange with a massive white cloudy persistent foam, when it finally dissipates it leaves some lacings and a lid on the surface. Aroma is pale and sweet malt, bananas and yeast spices and a nice flowery hoppy touch. Taste basically follows the aroma, with big malty flavours, yeasty notes with spices and coriander, flowery hops that grows bigger towards the end which also has traces of soil and finishes dry. Quite low bitterness despite the hoppy character. Medium to full body, medium carbo, slight oily texture. Just ace.

Smakar parfym. Nej Belgien kan behålla sina öl. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hmmm, a Belgian Tripel crossed with an American Double IPA, an interesting concept. 750 ml. bottle has an attractive cartoon label with the Chouffe elf on it checking out the hop vines. Poured into a schooner. Pours cloudy light gold with a two finger, rich white head that retains and leaves lacing. Complex aroma of floral hops, sweet malt, banana, grass, somewhat piney. This is not hopped as aggressively as an American IPA, it actually has found the pleasant middle ground of sweetness and bitterness (no resinous, grapefruit taste). Taste is well balanced, medium sweet, medium bitter, rich and fruity yet still refreshing. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, bitter finish. This is a great example of the hybrid, would repeat.

330ml bottle poured in a tulip glass. A: Pours a dark yellow to orange cloudy color forming a huge, bubbled, soapy and persistent white head. Some lingering lacings are formed and left in the glass. Reminds the Duvel’s foam somehow S: Strong notes of sweet malts, caramel, spices and citrus hops. Quite fruity. Delicious combination of the traditional Belgium yeasts and flowery hops. Very biscuity and malty. Low alcohol sensation despite the 9% ABV T: Absolutely delicious. Follows the nose. Strong notes of caramel, sweet malts, citrus fruits, flowery hops. Deliciously spicy. Belgian bready and earthy yeasts M: Heavy molasses body. Medium carbonation. Herby and flowery hops aftertaste O: High drinkability. Absolutely delicious Belgian IPA. Couleur jaune avec une petite mousse blanche; arômes et goût fruités, houblonnés et un peu épicé; l’alcool se fait un peu sentir; finale bien amère

Bottle in Jerusalem. Exp date: 2014. Pours a pale straw color with two fingers of fluffy head that settles slowly with great lacing. Clear with nice sparkly carbonation bubbles rising from the base of the glass. Belgian yeast fills the nose, along with aromas of marshmallow, pie crust, and flowers/lavender. Taste is peculiar -- Belgiany up front classic ale, transitions to sweet wheaty with banana at the middle, and finishes moderately bitter with some sourness. No alcohol presence. It’s definitely unique. It’s good. Nice full body, almost syruppy texture, medium-to-high carbonation, some sediment particles floating at the bottom of the glass. Bottom line: not an IPA to be drunk with an expectation of bitterness but rather a complex array of tastes. And it warms splendidly.
