A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Pale, straw blonde pour with a big foamy head. Aroma of cloves and spices. Not getting a lot of hop flavours in this one, definitely more of a Tripel with the yeast and spice flavours. A good beer nonetheless.

Nice golden colour with one finger foamy head. Belgian tripel honey and yeast aroma with some piney hops. The taste also initially has the sweet honey tripel notes before the citrusy and piney hop bitterness kicks in and dries it out. Fantastic full body. Really enjoyable.

750ml bottle. Pours cloudy golden yellow with dense off white head, more foam than a standard capucinno. Aroma of hay and citrus rind with a maltiness lingering. The taste is very hop forward backed by generous sweet malt then a very dry citrus rind finish which remains on the palate. Definitely different, but not bad.

Pours a hazy golden color, topped with a decently sized off-white head. Hoppy aroma (floral) with some spicy notes and some yeast as well. Taste is herbal, hoppy with a bit too much yeasty notes. Not alcoholic, although strong. Not bad, but not really for me.

Thick sturdy snow white foam. Nice and soft. The beer is crystal clear and lively fizzling. It has a nice light golden/yellowy color. The beer smells very summery and sweet. There are touches of citrus fruit and hops. These aromas come back in the taste. It has a nice hoppy citrus taste, very refreshing. The beer has a firm bitterness, but it is on perfect harmony with the citrus/hop aroma. When you take a sip you taste the fruity hop flavors first, the bitterness later. This creates a really nice condition. The aftertaste is mostly bitter, with a hint of citrus.

750ml bottle. Hazy golden with a dirty head. The aroma of fruit and wet grass. Easy to drink, taste like banana, citrus, wheat, yeast. Mild malt and hops flavor, aftertaste is yeast-like and smooth.

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector BB 10.2016 Pours a hazy straw body, creamy white head. Fragrant aroma, not too aggressive; floral, citrus, grass, light tropical fruity hops but in a modest proportion. Some underlying spicy yeasty phenolics and light caramel maltiness. Nice creamy body, plenty of carbonation but soft and very well tempered alcohol. Body is quite lovely really, excellent balance - pale malts, light caramel/white sugar sweetness counterbalanced with grassy, floral hops, ripe fruits & peppery, spicy yeast character. Reasonably high but smooth bitterness on drawn out finish. Good stuff, well crafted, subtle but lots of character, tremendous balance - doesn’t feel like a 9% beer.

Gold with an inch of medium-fine warm tan head that fades at a moderate-slow rate. Aroma is slight roasted pecan, honey, some apricot, lemon grass, and scone backbone. Body is medium weight, oily, somewhat starchy. Lot’s of moderately-coarse carbonation, soft blanket, medium-light burn. Great mouthfeel. Flavor is bitter orange shavings, touch of apricot and general green herbs, maybe a hint of mint. Some lemongrass. Overall, a nice tripel; an OK IPA. To me, it doesn’t have the most delicious yeast flavors associated with great tripels, nor does it have yummy IPA flavors, but it is brewed well and together the components lend the beer a crisp and enjoyable duality that is satisfying and doesn’t tire.

Bottle. Golden color with a lasting and quite thick head. Aroma has pine, citrus and floral hops. Taste is first a bit sweet but then ends with dry and bitter finish. Flavors of citrus, yeast, malt and spices. Easy-drinking but tasty one.
