Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Hazy yellow body with a huge pillowy head that laces beautifully. Aroma of citrus hops and yeast. Flavor starts out dry, malty, bready and finishes with big citrus hops. I’m definitely a fan of this interesting blend of styles.

Bottle via mystery swap from mibromeo and leopoldstoch (thanks!). Pours a very hazy gold with a large white head. Nose is floral/citrus hops and a bit spicey as well. Very interesting flavor. Hoppy but not bitter in the least. I detect pineapple, orange, lemon, bananna, and pepper as well as some honey and caramel malts. Very very smooth. Medium/full body. Only complaint is that is is over-carbonated. Alcohol is well hidden. World class stuff. Very unique combining an IIPA and a Triple. Am glad i have another bottle!

750ml bottle. the pour is reminiscent of a belgian tripel. big over-foamy head and a rich golden-amber hue. aromas of bitter green hops overwhelms me. also, peach, mango, some passion fruit bleeds through as well. it’s very aromatic, and even contains some light floral notes. the taste is smooth, fruity, but well balanced and not overly hopped. the finish is ultimately creamy vanilla and green, tight hops. the journey there is quite a deep one. i’ve thoroughly enjoyed this ale. it’s nothing short of phenomenal. grab one, it’s worth it.

Bottle. Beautiful pour. Huge frothy white head sits atop a completely clear golden body. Nose and flavor are both dominated by caramel and hoppy citrus notes. Thick and smooth palate. Light alcohol in the finish.

Aged one year, the caramel notes fade and the sweetness turns to a more bright fruitiness. Well-worth aging.

Pours hazy yellow amber with a nice sized white head. Aroma is yeasty, with light fruits and a little bit of citrusy and spicy hop notes. Flavor is light fruits, with some citrusy hop and spicy notes in the finish. Good stuff.

Golden color with a big, creamy head completes this IPA’s blond disguise. Aroma of hoppy lemons. Bitter and dry with a touch of citrus. Finish lasts forever. Superb.

Long lasting white head over a cloudy yellow body, strong, floral/cirtusy start and dry/bitter finish. The mix of hops were enjoyable and well as the characteristics of achieved by unique brewing process, all in all, a tasty almalgamation of ingredients and mixology.

Re-rate: Originally tasted in February. Perhaps my palate was off at the time, or the bottle was oxidized. Either way.....Another tasting was definitely in order. Pour is a cloudy golden color with lots of sediment. Aroma....spice, yeast, lemon, hops. Big rocky head. Flavor is light, crisp and refreshing. Sweet with a hop spice and hints of lime and orange zest. Very well-balanced and smooth, leaving a sticky mouthfeel and lingering/light hop kick after each sip. The hop presence is somewhat subdued to me. This is more like a 75/25 with the scale tilted to the tripel side: Seeing as how this is from Belgium and it’s brewed in the Belgian style, I’m sure it’s supposed to come across that way. A really great brew, especially for the summer.
