4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 kujo9 (1085) - North Ridgeville, USA - JUN 23, 2006
750 ML bottle: This is the weirdest damn head on a beer I’ve ever, ever, ever seen on a beer! If I had a digital camera, I’d take a picture and share it with the world, but you’ll have to suffer through my description of it. The head is very soft, white, and pillowy. It first looked like an ordinary white, fluffy head, but as it shrank into my sample glass (5 oz coca cola shaped glass), it started to look like it had a large, campfire marshmallow in the center of it. Then as is shrank some more, it started to take the shape and size of the crown cap that adorned the bottle while still keeping with the campfire marshmallow size in the middle of the glass, with the indentations and everything. Now that it shrinks farther, it still has the indentations, but it now looks like a shiitake mushroom head with a large cap and a smaller ribbed, fat stem like protrusion up from the still lasting thinner head. Belgian lace is fantastic! Now onto the rest of the beer! The color is a very light amber with minimal haze! The aroma starts a bit grassy, but there is also grapefruit citrusy hop, BTW, the cap on the mushroom is still about the size of an American nickelafter about 10 minutes! Spicy yeast, sort of saison like in spiciness, earthy hops and a doughy yeast. Pils malt aroma with some white pepper thrown in for good measure. Flavor is well balanced, but has some resiny hop flavor to back up the soft malt presence. BTW, the little cap of the mushroom is still there! Lightly sweet up front, but a definitely dry, herbal hop finish. Spicy, peppery, and lightly citrusy hop flavor mid palate into the aftertaste. Yeast presence throughout. Fuller medium body, higher carbonation, and very well hidden alcohol round out my favorite interperetation of a triple IPA, as well as a silky smooth body with minimal dryness. If I have to drink an IPA, this is my IPA of choice. I love the spicy yeast with the combination of the American hops, and the well hidden alcohol gives the impression of a session beer, but beware, thus it is not!
3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 RmmHronek (70) - Linz, AUSTRIA - MAY 29, 2012
The Aroma is a little weak for an IPA, but I am hoping that is due to the product’s age, however, I couldn’t find a date. All I got on the aroma was some alcohol and the typical Belgian fruitiness, maybe some sulfur? It’s easy to drink, medium bodied, and quite effervescent! Packs quite the punch at 9%!

Bottle from Kris Wines. Light yellowish beer with big big white head. Aroma is perfumey and spicy, surprisingly little hop. Taste is nice and complex, a good Chouffe spicy yeast flavour, crisp, definitely a Belgian tripel with more hops than any other style. Hop flavour comes through in the finish, and you get a slight hint of pine and maybe grapefruit in the finish. Excellent twist on a classic - but hides the alcohol well so be careful!

Test vom 20.11.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,12,11,12,12,12 - 11,85

pour bright amber yellow, small head, micro CO2. Medium malts on the nose. Burst of 8/10-level sweetness up front, alcoholic malts, orange citrus, dry hops, pine, ends with a long lingering bitter finish. Medium complexity, medium depth, good transitions, good carry, good drinkability. All-around solid tripel.

Wow....this is a hell of a beer. Blows those karmeliet monks outta the water if you ask me. This hits me in all the right places and gives me giggles like a slutty schoolgirl. This gnome knows his hops and his wife is fertile, triply so.

Fresh and slightly metallic scent of yeast and fruit and alcohol. The taste is fruity but most of all yeast and hops. The aftertaste is long and dry with a good bitterness. Very nice!
