A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

An unimpressive, though typical Tripel. Fairly smooth, good carbonation.. but otherwise simplistic and not good.

Beginner’s Opinion: Smells of citrus, bit noverall not as aromatic as other IPAs. Has a nice mucky blonde colour and opacity with a strong head that collapses relatively quickly. The beer is a bit too bitter for my taste, and with 9% ABV, a little too strong for me. But it makes up for it with a full body and smooth flavor.

Robe dorée jaune magnifique. Nez citron, herbes, houblons. Les houblons en bouche sont merveilleux. C’est fruité, l’alcool est caché, la carbo légère. Excellente.

330 mL bottle shared by ebone1988 at the resumption of The Chouffe Party 2016. The pour is a foggy golden yellow color with a thicker film of white bubbly head and a pretty good lacing as it falls down to a thick collar. The aroma is interesting to day the least. There is a strong lemon zest right up front and a lot of banana. It’s a little milky on a deep inhale and just carries a banana sweetness. Thank god there is no clove or coriander. This might be drinkable. The flavor is awful. Fucking awful. There is a big spiciness that just blasts you in the face. Lemon and banana are non existent. Hops are huge and bitter. The spiciness really gets me. There is a beat that I freaking hate. It’s metallic, leafy, spicy, and garbage. It’s got a sweet malty thing happening on the back end. The mouth feel is syrupy and not well carbonated and the aftertaste is junk. It’s spicy and malty and just tastes like garbage. Christ. Thanks a lot Eric.

Bottle shared with koleminer20 at the resumption of The Chouffe Party 2016. Aroma is banana, citric, cool mint, booze, lactose, candy. Appearance is dark golden, off white head, hazy, lots of floaters. Taste is robust. Pine, spicy, boozy, banana, hops, tropical fruit, bad. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, lots and lots of booze and pine in the aftertaste. Overall, if it wasn’t for the Chouffe Party or that damn book I bought, I would not have bought this one. Damn Abbey Tripels.

Excellent beer! It’s golden, almost no haziness at all, it produces a decent amount of head that stays there for quite some time. 9% ABV is wonderfully masked behind the lively carbonation and the amazing flowery notes, lemon peels and hops, but not the way too bitter kind. There’s also some faint notes of spices and maybe some tropical fruits in it (maybe papaya). This is a really really wonderful beer, a must try, especially if you’re into Belgian beers!

UPDATED: APR 14, 2016 Ik herinner me dat hij op fles een beetje scherp en vrij bitter is, maar zojuist van het vat gehad en die viel me heel erg mee. Zacht droog, licht bitter met tonen van citrus.

Golden, almost transaparent. Big fluffy head, decently persistent, some lacing. Intense but not very complex aroma: resinous bitterness, lemon, a hint of spiciness. In the taste: crackery malts foundation, dominant herbal and resinous bitter notes, lemon. Dry finish, bitter aftertaste. Alcohol is very well hidden. Gets boring pretty soon. Full body and medium to high carbonation, still quite smooth in the mouth but a bit heavy on the stomach. Decent, just not much going on

Excelente formação de espuma com intensidade. Aroma marcante com lúpulo presente. Retrogosto ácido e amargo
