750 mL bottle, "Best Before End 2009." Age or enjoy now? The may be not the right point to be considered cellared or new, but it may be my last big beer before vacation. I forget sometimes how deceptively light and golden the Belgian dubbel-tripel-quads are. Big rocky head. Beer is cloudy with visible floaty bits, which I never thought to see in a Tappist-based Belgian. Smell from the bottle is surprisingly grainy, just a whiff of hops. Grainy smell in my IPA tulip glass, too. A peak of foam sits about an inch above the rim like root beer float foam. Foam tastes a bit like an all-grain homebrewed IPA. Finally I can get down to the beer, and find the nice big, golden barleys of a true tripel. Hops are still present, but not to the level of a big American Pale Ale. Guess when this is around two years old, the hop sensation has migrated to the foam. Malt is light and smooth, but does carry the impression of alcohol that warns you to settle and don’t drink too much at once.

Cor de ouro envelhecido turva com belíssima espuma branca e cremosa de altíssimas formação e persistência com muito lacing;
Aroma de leveduras belgas e banana; um toque de cravo; com aumento da temperatura pode se perceber álcool também;
Sabor inicial de leveduras e banana evoluindo para fim ácido, picante, um pouco amargo e bem alcoólico. Retrogosto principalmente alcoólico com leve dulçor de banana e leve amargor;
Carbonatação alta e corpo médio.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20

Pour on this is a hazy golden with a massive, foamy off-white cap with great retention and lacing. This stuff is like a postcard for pretty beer. Nose is flowers, lemony citrus, spruce, ripe fruit and spice. Taste is sweet, fruity, boozy malt with a nice hop kick and a long bitter finish. To call this beer well-balanced doesn’t even do it justice, I think. It’s more...perfect calibrated. Grain, yeast and hops are all clearly present and in perfect harmony. Really nice mash-up.

This is a great Old World meets New World ale. It is somewhere between a traditional Belgian yeasty Trappist style ale and a double imperial IPA. Not as hoppy as a West Coast IPA and not as yeasty as a Chimay Abbey style Tripel. For those who may be hesitant to dive into a Belgian or be shy around hop heavy ales, this unique beer strikes a nice balance and satisfies appropriately its unique compromise between two quite different high Gravity ales. Two styles that I truly love. The offspring is exactly right between. A very interesting and terrific experiment!

Pale opaque gold, strong white head. Sweet fruity hoppy aroma, very nice. Quite bitter and somewhat dry, slightly fizzy mouthfeel. Finishes warm and hoppy. Delighful!

Great IPA, well balanced, fruity hoppy nose, nice body, beautiful colour, taste is well balanced, prefer the Duvel tripel hop still but this one is a great creation of the Chouffe brewery!

Helder geel sap met licht snel wegzakkend schuim. Smaak viel tegen door mijn verwachting van IPA... Was meer een goede frisse tripel smaak met een beetje IPA. Bitterheid vervliegt snel. Lekker en fris maar niet mijn topper. 3 kaboutermutsjes uit 5! En noem hem gewoon tripel...

750ml bottle. Belgiuminabox. Hazy gold. Thick, bubbly, sticky, lasting, white head. Fresh baked bread maltiness. Strawberry toffee. Fresh hop. Lots of that Belgian yeast dry, but juicy thing. As this warms there’s orange zest, lemon pith, and deeper, sticky malt. Taste is light sweet. A little dryness. Piny bitter. Full, rich, smooth palate. Wow. This is so tasty, but not heavy going at all. Finishes just the right side of sweet, with the hop bitterness kicking in at the end. Restrained. Elegant. Knock your socks off. All at the same time. Lovely.

Golden color with a bit of haze. Withe, long head.
Intense malty and hoppy aromas: red fruits, lemon and mango. Very nice nose. In mouth it is sweet but equilibrated with a nice bitterness. Full body and medium carbonation. Warm sensation. Dry and very long ending. Great tripel!!
