RichJ7 (886), Cullman, Alabama, USA Mar 29, 2008 Cloudy golden pour with an amazingly gigantic creamy white head ... like meringue ... it never really goes away. Almost creepy. Pleasantly hoppy nose with a sugary sweetness. Flavor is a very interesting mix of malty fruit sweetness and hop bitterness. Gains tons of character as it warms. Bready, yeasty, hoppy, fruity ... the lovechild of a tripel and an IPA. Very complex with a dry, grainy finish. I liked it a lot.
17thfloor (651), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 7, 2008 Pours a hazy golden orange with a large milky white creamy head. Very full aroma, Belgian candi sugar, loads of flowery noble, yeasty, light orange. First taste is extremely bitter, juicy & chalky, with sweet spicy orange underneath. Hides the 9% well. Full mouthful, milky with larger but softer carbonation. Finishes very dry with a long bitter/vitamin C aftertaste. I think I prefer de Ranke XX Bitter. It is great to burp up noble hops though! Someone get me some cheese! CaryTheDude (195), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Sep 6, 2008 Updated: Sep 7, 2008Pleasantly crushed con Jakebra. What the fuck am I drinking? So misleading by the appearance. Looks like a cheap Heifeweizen. This is one of the most complexest beers I’ve ever tried. I don’t even know what to say about it. I am so impressed and confused and scared and overwhelmed. Just get this and try it. Absolutely blown away. gotohelunc (365), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Sep 6, 2008 Draft at Tylers. Hazy straw yellow with a huge soapy white head. Yeasty nose, some dough, and an interesting blast of bitterness. The flavors come across like a hopped up Belgian ale, and it works very well. The bitterness cleans the mouth leaving it a nice sharp finish. I’m sure the more times I had this beer, the more flavors I’d notice. jcweaver (58), VA Beach, Virginia, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pour a pale straw color with a very frothy white head that lasts and lasts. The taste is very hoppy with a bit of fruit in the finish. The palate is vary "fizzY’ as this beer is hugely carbonated (beware every bottle I have opened over-flows). This is a great blending of style and an all around wonderful beer. SCBrew (25), San Clemente, California, USA Sep 4, 2008 Pours a hazy light gold color with a tight white head. Very sweet, pilsen malt aroma with a small amount of hop pushing through, surrounded by yeasty fruitiness. Seemingly light body for 9%with moderate carbonation and heavy lacing. Citrus hop flavors surrounded by candy sweetness. Decent amount of alcohol warming at the back of the tounge and throat.
