2006 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a huge white head that has huge retention (cider with this much and long lasting head?) over a clear golden body. Aroma is odd, at first some poached salmon, cedar, wood, apple core, and must. Taste is light manure, bandaid, fruit and apple stems. Fizzy and dry.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 thedm (4126) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - AUG 29, 2009
This corked and caged bottled cider from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of medium sized light clear green hued bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a transparent strongly carbonated dark orange colored body. The body looked like it was boiling from all of the bubbles that were present. If you could even see through the bubbles you might see some hint of color. The aroma was off with fruity and funky notes. The strong tingly bubbly mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish. It gave me gas and I burped a lot afterwards. The mild flavor contained notes of mild dull apples. An OK brew just nothing special. The cider was just dull once you got past all the carbonation.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 scrizzz (2220) - Bothell, Washington, USA - JAN 6, 2009
Band aid and honeycrisp apple. Lively active carbonation shot the cork off and provided a fierce bubble presence. I get some apple, but damn if the band aid isn’t out of control. Couldn’t finish it. Bleh.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 FlacoAlto (3153) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - NOV 18, 2008
Served Lightly Chilled
Quite a bit of flower-like apple notes mix with a musty, sweaty, Brett induced funk. The beer is incredibly lively, and likely should have been chilled further, as the cork just explodes off of the bottle. Luckily I only lost a couple ounces. The cider is a golden, clear hue with a ton of visual carbonation, and the head, while short lived, forms a three finger thick white foam on top. Phenolic notes play a big role with medicinal and plasticized notes being quite noticeable as well as the suite of farmhouse funk notes.
There is quite a bit of sweetness to this cider still as it tastes of apple juice up front. It finishes with a medicinal funkiness and curing plastic flavor that is not quite as prominent as in the aroma, but does tend to linger on the palate for quite some time. When I take a big swig of this brew it starts to pick up a sort of vegetal note to it. While on the sweet side, this does not keep this from being quite light bodied; it would be down right quaffable if not for the strong phenolic notes that are so prominent in the finish.
Interesting, though a touch to medicinal / plasticized to be great.
