COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A robust American Brown Ale clocking in at 5.8% ABV. This ale is brewed with 23% malted rye for a distinctively spicy finish and dry hopped with a blend of American and New Zealand hops. A complex blend of citrus, pepper, and chocolate that harkens back to the brawling and revelry that occurred in Cincinnati’s Northside neighborhood in the early 19th Century. Helltown can always use a little Rye-ot to spice things up.

Very nice in the aroma and appearance department. Interesting, but has too much going on with it--little busy. All in all, a fun brown ale analogue to try.

Bottle: I love this beer...its nice and spicy rye plays perfectly into the fall weather. The aromas are nice and bready with a slight hop presence that brightens it up. Flavor is much like you would hope for after smelling it... Rye is upfront and not ashamed to be there...this is a great beer. Loved it!

Draft to taster. Looks good; a mostly transparent light cola brown with foamy light beige head. Smells solid; spicy and hoppy with notes of black pepper and dark chocolate. The rye really comes through too, but nicely so. Tastes like it smells with a nice rye tingle. A good rye beer.

Draft sample at Listermann Oktoberfest pours opaque dark brown. Nose fairly strong hop nose. Taste sweet malt then resiny hop. Mid palate bitter some roast then nutty finish. Nice flavor progression.

Taster on tap at Listermann’s Craft Oktoberfest 2013. Brown color. Good thin khaki head, good thick lace. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. Dry finish. Medium-plus body. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, minimal sweet. Some good spicy rye notes, earthy, hop. Toasty malt. Great, spicy, toasty rye brown IPA. Both hops and malts are very enjoyable, here. Very impressive.

Draft pint at the Lager House. Pours a deep, cloudy brown with a small beige head that laces the glass. Aroma of toast, chocolate, rye, nuts, and leaves- nice and toasty and malty. Flavor of rye, toast, leafy and earthy hops, chocolate and dark chocolate, pine, and dry grains. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and an earthy mouthfeel that dries up at the finish. Some bitterness lingers. More complex and interesting than expected. Very good beer.

Alright, I had this one poured for me at the new Cincinnati Moerlein Over-The-Rhine brewery opening last week - This is a fine, spicey rye beer, dark mahogany hued and a pleasant grainy kick.

Draft. Poured a dark brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted rye, sweet malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet tingly finish of moderate to long duration. Solid drinkable brew.

Draft - pours dark brown with tan head. Nose is pine. Flavor adds chocolate and light roasted malts. Quite bitter with some sweetness. Should be an Indian Brown Ale, but what do I know? Medium body with plenty of character.
