Commercial Description:
Christian Moerlein Oktoberfest is a traditional Marzen-styled, bottom-fermented lager. This is a little darker and hardier for a season when days turn shorter and nights turn cooler. It is pale copper in color and has a malty aroma and sweetness balanced by hops for a low, clean hop finish. Compare its flavor and quality to any craft or imported Oktoberfest and you will agree that Christian Moerlein Oktoberfest is quite simply a better Oktoberfest beer.

I like that this is a bit darker and thicker than traditional marzen. It’s also got a strong hops presence. Almost like a holiday brew to honest, but I like it.

Bottle. Pours coppery with a fairly dense head. Smells grainy and sweet corn malty. Some hops present as well. Tastes sweet with the different malts, cereal grains, maybe even nutty, and then some bittering from the decent amount of hops. Long sweet aftertaste. Pretty good.

12 oz. Nice looking copper coloured beer, with a small tan head, leaves nice lacing. Quite good malt driven aromas, caramel, slightly hopped. Nice semi-bitter malts mostly, get almost creamy near the end, then a qyuick finish with an after taste of hops. Ok on the palte, could be a wee bit thicker. Overall not a bad little beer.

Pours a clear amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of sweet malts, caramel, toasted malts, and some spices. Flavor is mostly toasted and caramel malts. A little unbalanced. Not much hop character and has a strange aftertaste. The more I drink the more I don’t like it.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with shigadeyo (thanks!). Poured a medium orangish color with a light haze and a smaller sized head. Aromas of caramel, toasted nuts, and a little bready. Weaker tastes of toasted malts and caramel. Thinner body. Boring.
