UPDATED: FEB 8, 2015 25cl, best before 01.04.16. Lots of yeast sediment in the small bottle. The beer starts smooth and malty. Round. Fresh and smooth. A bit dusty, malt, hints of dried red fruits. Slightly dusty-malty in the aftertaste. Not too much bitterness, fresh, easy to drink.

As Kapittel Watou Winter @Brugs BF ’15, ZO. Amber pour. Cassonade beet root sugars invade nostrils, taste buds and palate. Some plum, old candy, twiggy liquorice wood. Develops less than subtle, becoming starchy like overcooked fruits. No abv wafts, but no payoff either. One of few semi-drainpours of BBF ’15.

Sampled at ZBF 2015. Clear amber, medium off-white head. Bready and caramelly malt aroma, bubble gum phenols, floral hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Semi sweet, low to medium bitterness.

27/XI/14 - on tap @ Gent Horeca Expo - BB: n/a (2014-1411)

Clear dark red to brown beer, irregular beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit fishy, sweet, some banana, very weird... first pour out of the tap line since last night? MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bit sweet, caramel, metallic touch, little bitter, soft roastedness. Aftertaste: caramel, little bitter, metallic finish. Pretty weak.

330ml Bottle - Dark brown with some orangey tinges. Mince pies, fruitcake and spice in the aroma. Fruity and fairly rich taste with a slight sweetness and notes of fruitcake and Christmas pudding.

10cl sample at the Zythos Beer Festival (Leuven, April 25th 2015), as the 7.5% "Vintage Christmas Leroy 2008 (brouwerij het Sas-Van Eecke)". I could choose for the series of 2008, 2010 or 2012, and I went for the oldest one. This was a wrong choice. First of all, I don’t appreciate the Leroy water source, which has a dusty undertone. Secondly, this vintage version has a dirty ’iron’ taste for the old beer is oxidated by its old age. This is a beer from the retirement batch.
