@ Stordirren 16-1-26: ingen större doft men tydlig kolasmak och knäck, lite vanilj. Ok, men inget mer.

Aroma: Smelling of bread, apple, brown sugar and vanilla.
Appearance: A amber colored beer. A off-white head with some lacing and good curtains.
Taste: Tasting toffee, bread, brown sugar, raisins and hay.
Palate: Low carbonation, a soft and oily texture. A big body.
Overall: Sweet, warm. Good winter stuff.
Note: Bottle 750 ml at home. Reviewed 2015-12-21.

750 ml unfiltered bottle sampled just at best before date. Clear (at least for the first 2/3 part of the bottle) amber body with a nice creamy beige head that disappears quite fast. Nice aroma of caramel malt, dry fruit, brown sugar and spicy Belgium yeast. Flavor is sweet caramel malt that balanced nice with the alcohol, brown sugar, dry fruit, spices and a hint of chocolate. Nice balanced body and good, long lasting aftertaste with sweet caramel and dry fruit. Really nice and the cellaring has probably done some good thing here.

DWFADSJT; Bottle, small. Poured clear brown with a moderate lasting, frothy, off-white head. Nose is moderate, malt and caramel, yeast, rasin, spice and alchole wood. Taste is moderate sweet and bitter with a warming, spice, dried fruit, lasting finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to avarage.

10cl sample at the Zythos Beer Festival (Leuven, April 25th 2015), as the 7.5% "Vintage Christmas Leroy 2008 (brouwerij het Sas-Van Eecke)". I could choose for the series of 2008, 2010 or 2012, and I went for the oldest one. This was a wrong choice. First of all, I don’t appreciate the Leroy water source, which has a dusty undertone. Secondly, this vintage version has a dirty ’iron’ taste for the old beer is oxidated by its old age. This is a beer from the retirement batch.
