jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Apr 29, 2007 Pours cloudy golden with lots of unexpected yeast sediment mucking up the appearance - medium white frothy head. Stale apple, hay and grassiness in the nose. I found the flavor to be cluttered and messy with notes of wood, stale malt/apple, caramel, hay/grain then some grassy/lemony noble hop character in the finish. Full and round with a nice, creamy texture and carbonation. While it doesn’t necessarily taste "bad", it didn’t quite do it for me (for a pilsner). kkearn (993), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 26, 2007 11.2oz flip top bottle. Hazy golden color, with a thick off white head that fills the pint glass. Floral nose, with yeast in the background. Mild hop flavor; delicately balanced with malt and yeast. Mildly bitter finish. I’m not typically a big Pils fan, but this is well crafted, and very enjoyable. tipsytoad (83), Jersey Apr 17, 2007 Draught at t’Arends Nest, Amsterdam. Excllent blond, very hoppy and bitter, the perfect refreshment. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Apr 14, 2007 Yeast and spices in the aroma. Golden brown body. Medium palate. Light malt--very weak flavor overall. Some spices and belgian yeast--unimpressive. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Apr 9, 2007 Lots of sweet malt really dominates the aroma.Pours a medium hazy copper with a medium off white head.Flavor is pretty much the same as the aroma.Thin to medium mouthfeel with a sweet finish. Fukito (604), Buenos Aires, Argentina Mar 31, 2007 Bottle at In de Wildeman, march 07. Spicy herbal, coriander, perfumey aroma. Cloudy orange color with a dense, creamy white head. Beatifull, ludicous, herbal flavor with a shy strawberries touch. MF is medium, filing and refreshing, greatly quaffable. Really nice, perfumy kellerbier. NICU (11), Oregon, USA Mar 27, 2007 33cl bottle purchased from Belmont Station. Poured slowly to avoid the pile of sediment in the bottom, but I over-did it and ended up with a swirl of yeast in the glass. Aroma of spicy noble hops, a touch of yeast, and a solid under-pinning of Munich/Vienna malt flavors. Pours a beautifully soft honey color with a rapidly receding white head that diminishes and then rebuilds itself after each tip of the glass. The flavor starts as a sweet malt sensation on the tip of the tongue, washes across the palate in waves of spicy hops and bread crumbs, and finishes by leaving a trail of earthy, spicy flavors in the throat. Quite tasty, if it were a bit cheaper I’d buy a ton of it, but at $3.50 per bottle it will be an occasional treat. MesandSim (5789), London, Greater London, England Mar 20, 2007 A Mes rate:
33cl bottle from Lowlander. Gert bought it and as it was highly unlikely we would ever purchase one I squeezed a rate in. Better than I expected. Sweet and fruity yet rather hoppy in the aroma. Rather dark for the style. Rather chunky for a pilsner. Citric and hoppy in the mouth with a nice fresh character. Something slightly different and enjoyable.
