Yeah, there's no way this is a pilsener. It's too malty and yeasty and lacks that astringent bitter finish common with most pilseners I've had. Reminds me more of a lightly colored doppelbock. To put it more bluntly, I like this. Bov (5514), Bienne, Switzerland

He cannot always be wrong :-)): this IS a great beer 2000: Just for Oakes, I HAVE to retry this beer. I just cannot believe we are so far from each other on this one... duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Dark orange beer with small, off-white head. Some hops, German obviously, a bit of ureum, but discreet, and a bit of garden herbs. Quite carbonated, grass, a remarkable toasted malts flavour; beautiful bitterness, remaining in the aftertaste, always accompagnied with a toasted flavour. Carbonated, a bit chewy, very rounded for a Pilsener. One of the best Pilseners in the Low Countries. Again in the style (after some poorer period) Leo Brand intended. imdownthepub (5191), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England

Dry fruity Pils, quite peachy in flavour and also quite bitter on the finish. I also picked up a little vanilla in the body. Some hops on the close. ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark

Flavour is bitter and hoppy. Very pleasant aftertaste, with lots of bitterness. Very good pilsener. MoritzF (5122), Bochum, Germany
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 26, 2005 (swing top bottle) Hazy pale yellow colour with steady foamy white head. Gentle floral hoppy aroma with elements of citrus fruits. Great bitter, almost astringent start, but not as dry as expected, well-balanced hoppy and malty finish.
