Commercial Description:
Unfiltered bottle.
Ingredients: Water, Barely Malt, Hops, Yeast.
Christoffel Blond is a bottom fermented golden-coloured beer with a full body, a very balanced taste and a beautiful bitterness due to a generous addition of fresh hop during the brewing-process. The aroma is fruity and has a fresh taste with a pleasant, hoppy finish.

Sweet fruity aroma, not what I'd expect from a pilsener. The aroma really grows on you. Yeah, there's no way this is a pilsener. It's too malty and yeasty and lacks that astringent bitter finish common with most pilseners I've had. Reminds me more of a lightly colored doppelbock. To put it more bluntly, I like this.

re-rate, 06/21/02: finally I got the possibility to retry this beer ! cloudy orange colour, nice head and lace, very impressive hoppy aroma, herbal, full with a very long bitter finish - Oakes was right (hey ! He cannot always be wrong :-)): this IS a great beer
2000: Just for Oakes, I HAVE to retry this beer. I just cannot believe we are so far from each other on this one...

A very nice beer, hazy yellow appearance with nice head, hoppy and herbaceous? nose, quite dry, bitter finish, highly enjoyable.

Dark orange beer with small, off-white head. Some hops, German obviously, a bit of ureum, but discreet, and a bit of garden herbs. Quite carbonated, grass, a remarkable toasted malts flavour; beautiful bitterness, remaining in the aftertaste, always accompagnied with a toasted flavour. Carbonated, a bit chewy, very rounded for a Pilsener. One of the best Pilseners in the Low Countries. Again in the style (after some poorer period) Leo Brand intended.

Keg on tap at Take 1, Maastricht. Burnt gold with white head. Dry fruity Pils, quite peachy in flavour and also quite bitter on the finish. I also picked up a little vanilla in the body. Some hops on the close.

Good solid head which is lasting. Colour is golden and a bit hazy. Taste is on the bitter side.

Golden coloured with a long lasting white head. Has a nice hoppy aroma with notes of spices. Flavour is bitter and hoppy. Very pleasant aftertaste, with lots of bitterness. Very good pilsener.

(swing top bottle) Hazy pale yellow colour with steady foamy white head. Gentle floral hoppy aroma with elements of citrus fruits. Great bitter, almost astringent start, but not as dry as expected, well-balanced hoppy and malty finish.
