madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Nov 4, 2009 Bottle - Pours cloudy, hazy amber with a white head that’s gone quick. Nose is real sweet, with apples, honey, plums, red wine, and a bit of yeasty funk. The complexity of the nose is confusing, as the taste is rather bland--lots of lightly spiced, grassy hops along with a boozy bite and a bit of sweet malt. Not balanced very well. Finish is grassy, herbal, and mouth-coating. It’s rare for a beer to seem so promising on the nose and tastes so bad. judasbeer (228), Budapest, Hungary Nov 4, 2009 Hazy straw yellow color with huge white head that, almost never diminish fully, which was quite surprised me.
Aroma of dry, resinous hops with faint corny feel. The flavor is absolutely dominated by the dry herbal hops.
I cant feel any malts. The body is medium to full with oily texture. Long, bone-dry hop leaves in the finish.
Interesting, robust one, but not as balanced as the blond one IMHO.
piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Nov 2, 2009 Bottled sample. Hazy orange in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of lemon and lime zest, orange, pale malts, and booze. In the mouth, more lemon and lime peel, yeast, mild stewed fruit, wheat germ, earth, and a slight medicinal note. Quite hoppy and quck to finish. A real oddball. The fuit and medicine flavors ruin it for me. armando629 (952), Budapest, Hungary Nov 2, 2009 0,33 l bottle.
Nice golden appearance with a creamy and stable white head. Fine floral-herbal hops lead the malty and fruity aroma with some sourish yeast. Smooth mouthfeel with fine bready malt, the floral-herbal hop is the leader in the flavor too. Dry but malty aftertaste. Fine lager beer.... theisti (1637), Leawood, Kansas, USA Nov 1, 2009 11.2 fl oz swing top bottle purchased at Blue Max in Burnsville, Minnesota. Pour is a murky orange brown with a smallish off white head. Extremely unfiltered looking. Aroma of clean toasted malt and fresh green hops, earthy and a hint of alcohol peeking through. Taste is herbal minty earthy hops right away - very strong and aggressive after that calms a bit some of the mineral toasted malt comes through. There is a sharpness to the taste, but not really any alcohol heat. The after taste is more of the herbal and earthiness. Palate is medium to thin, nice balanced carbonation and pretty easy to drink despite the size. Interesting well made beer. ogreface (291), Budapest, Hungary Nov 1, 2009 Aranysárga színe és szép szivacsos habja van ennek a sörnek. Very high in alcohol but smooth as a baby’s bottom. I had it on tap at a new place in DC. Never seen it anywhere else. Excited to try it in a bottle or other beers by them. ericandersnavy (1038), crossroads, Texas, USA Oct 22, 2009 bottle thanks to bu11zeye. poured hazy gold with not much of a whit head. aroma was lemon and grains. flavor was spicy, lemon, and pepper?? light body
