Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2008 Thick, creamy head. Very malty aroma. Mango, chocolate and caramel. Sweetish, malty taste with licorice and peach. Excellent beer. Bottle, sold as Biesbosch Bier. Probably the same beer as Robertus. Swing top bottle, brown color. Malty aroma with a hint of caramel. Malty, caramelly flavor with hints of pear drups. Flowery hops, with a hint of citrus in the finish. Almost full bodied. Well made dunkel. (7 3 7 3 13 = 3.3)

Weird, malty aroma. Taste is quite sweet. Never had a beer like this before. Good strong head.

Red-brown color, with a creamy head indeed. Kind of malty aroma. Better than the Christoffel Blond IMO.

Copper coloured with small creamy head. Malty aroma and taste. It is sweet, but less than expected from a double malted beer. The taste dissappears quickly.

Golden amber-orange crystal clear with active quickly dissipating small yellow head. Soda pop, fruity (but no strawberries) extra malty aroma. Lowly carbonated English style ale mild bitter sweet palate. A very short bittery start jumping to a very bland middle and faint malty sweet bitter finish. Too simple for my taste.

Beautiful nose made of strawberry, fresh cut roses.Light carbonation, little head also.Body is a bit thin.Would have liked more complexity. What seems to be a great beer ends up being so-so.

Raspberry scent, hazy peach/rose colour, big foamy head. Interesting sour fruit flavour, slightly bitter. Full bodied, complex. Intriguing.

Hazy apple cider appearance. Foamy off white head, small but tight. Light carbonation. Intriguing aroma. Doughy malts, yeast, mint, cardboard and berries. My initial taste impression - strawberry cream. Thick body, toasty and minty. Loaded with malts and spicy hops. Dryish despite the maltiness and fruity aspects. A sawdust aroma and flavor appears towards the end. This brewer is remarkable. The complexities are numerous and tasty to boot. Long finish and malty aftertaste. Thanks again Oakes. What else does he make?

Nice bottle. According to Michael Jackson this is one of the world’s great beers, but I found it very dry and bitter with some sweetness making it feel unbalanced.

Interesting beer i though, had a nice appearance (slightly red with a nice head), slightly sweet and sour on the tongue, bit of fruit in there aswell, but a bit syruppy and sticky at times. Pretty good though.
