Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

33cl bottle, hazy dark amber color, medium collapsing brownish head, malt and liquorice aroma with roasted, nuts and raisins notes, balanced sweet flavor, medium body, dry bitter finish with more roasted and hops character, better than expected

Very woody aroma, with nutty walnut overtones. Clear garnet, thin head. Lots of walnut flavor. Medium body, alcohol not noticeable. Drinks like a Sam Adams Utopia, but sessionable. Quite a pleasant surprise. A good example of what viennas and all lagers can be.

Bottle. Amber, hazy, average fully diminishing light brown head. Light to moderate sweetish malty aroma, some caramel. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel with faint bitterness. Finish is short to average, malty and sweetish. Malty and sweetish Münchener – not very interesting.

Pours a nice looking red-brown with a decent sized, off-white head that I really had to work for... Nose is soft, sweet: cherry, vanilla, liquorice, gummy candy, fruitiness and caramel. Really no noticeable hop character, quite brandy-like though not as boozy. In the mouth is initially cherry, melting into sweet malt, swedish fish and a touch of bubblegum with some vanilla on the swallow and lingering candy. Smooth and quite refreshing, though a bit sweet.

Sleightly hazy brown with a thin baige head. Aroma is a little fruity but mainly malty where caramel and bread comes to mind. Even more fruity flavor but again with a heavy malt character giving roasted grain, caramel and in the end there is a sleight herbal bitterness.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Soft and medium sweet beer. Juicy malt with a dry finish. Not bad!

Bottle @ home. After cleaning up from the gusher this poured with a slight murky brownish red, large tanned head. Aroma is very malty with some fruity and/or wine. Flavour is quite full and sweet with malt, caramel, spices. Some bitterness in the finish. Plus something weird I can’t place.

Bought this 2 Litres jug with flip-top a couple of Christmas’ ago and cellared it. Pours a ruby-amber colour with an nice beige creamy head that has good retention. Mildly carbonated and lacing is left behind. Beautiful nose with fruits (on the red apple side), nut, brown sugar and darker malts. OK, maybe it was more than a couple of years... as I taste a little sourness (which I assume is not usually there). Other than that, same stuff found in the aromas. Nice hazelnut finish. As always, I do like these Christoffel brews (but with a big bottle like these, you have to find the time for it). Unfortunately, I took too long.
