4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jerohen (1793) - Bussum, - JUL 30, 2011
UPDATED: SEP 17, 2011 Bottled from local Gall&Gall, Bussum. Dark brown colored, small dying head. Extremely malty nose, wow, it’s like walking through a brewery, good job! Sweet caramel malty flavor, little bit of bitterness in finish, but very much in the background. Some wheat which makes it refreshing. Lasting malty fnish. Quite full-flavored for such a low ABV brew. Personally i wouldn’t classify it as a Dunkelweizen, but on the other hand i wouldn’t know what other style to choose. Since most ratebeerians only tend to get excited by beers above five-thousand IBUs i can understand the low rating. But personally, i think this is a balanced, full-flavored and smooth beer that is an excellent choice if you’re in the mood for something less bitter.

This beer is good. A bit sweet but still good. Almost a Carmel flavor. It has a reddish brown color.

Sticky, dark beer. Ruby red, like rye beer. Sour notes, mostly sticky. Had better beers from Christoffel. Bottle from Van Erp in Groningen.

On tap at Beer Bier, Budapest. Cloudy light reddish brown color with medium off-white head. Interesting aroma with raisins, honey, caramel and some yeast. It’s like a delicious cooky. Ligth sweet taste. Medium body with creamy texture and average carbonation. Sweet malty yeasty finish. It’s a unique, delicious, sweet wheat beer.

Hazy brown beer, fluffy beige head. Weizen aroma, little vanilla, caramel, raisins, dark fruit, not too pronounced on the banana. Flavour rather sweet, weizen, quite fruity. Nice beer for the winter months.

33cL flip-top bottle poured into St. Feuillien tasting glass. Best before A 03 2011. Bottle popped with a rush of head up the bottleneck but not fast enough to gush. It poured with a fast fading head that left no signs of foam. Color is a beautiful reddish brown, darkish but allows for clarity. Aroma was, well, I only had one functioning nostril so nothing much came through. It was well lagered and clean. Flavor is very clean, rounded and lightly felt on the cheeks. No flaws, an earthy lagering flavor. It is easy drinking and well executed. Purchased at Bierkoning on my Amsterdam trip and drank it at my hotel room.

Bottle. Frothy white fair mostly deminishing head. Dark red-amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Very week fruity esters. Light bitter flavor. Stall light bitter short finish. Watery palate and too flat. not very good.

Not a fan, but I’m biased against this style anyway. Amber colored. Foamy white head that quickly dissipates. Tastes of caramel, dark fruity sweetness that is entirely out of balance.

Lekker maar niet zo mooi uiterlijk

330 ml swingtop bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Mahogany coloured beer, low beige head. Very malty and sweetish aroma, notes of caramel and oak. Malty flavour, medium sweet, with notes of caramel and brown bread. Rich mouthfeel. Tastes more like a dunkler bock than a dunkelweizen. Pretty good stuff.
