COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION Darker versions of pale ale are sometimes referred to as Amber Ales, or even more vaguely, just “Amber.” To some extent, “Amber Ale” is a catchall term and therefore is difficult to pin down. You can expect Amber Ales to be copper colored and to show more caramel malt flavor than paler beers. They are some times fuller-bodied and can be fairly fruity. Almost all will show case some citrusy or earthy hop character. Amber Ales are dry with a medium body supported by lingering caramel malt flavors with just enough bitterness to give them a dry clean finish. Original Gravity 12.5 Plato ABV 5.0% IBU’s 25 Editor’s note: formerly an organic amber, but no longer as of May 2010.
