COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bock German Lager is dark, malty, strong, toffeeish, full-bodied, with a restrained bitterness. Bock Beers are strong and malty, with a smoothness developed over months of cold aging. Moderate bitterness serves to balance out a slightly sweet full-bodied palate packed with toasty, bready and toffee like flavors. The malt is the star of the Bock and there’s plenty of it, delivering alcohol strength of 6 to 7 percent. The art of brewing has always brought Germans a great deal of pride. When brewers north of Germany started producing Bock Beer, it swept all the surrounding nations with its popularity. In 1612 Munich brewers sought to make their own Bock; the public instantly fell in love with the beer and Bavaria’s beer supremacy had begun! The German word "Bock" also refers to a Billy Goat, and brewers have made the goat the mascot of bock beer. These beers carry weight gracefully and the palate dries out in the finish of the beer. It is tradition in Germany that Bock Bier be released in the spring.

2013-01-14, draught at the brewpub, 7% ABV, 6-5-7-3-14=35
Beautiful amber color, with medium sized creamy head. Mild aroma of malt, with a sweetish impression. Good malt flavor, with very moderate sweetness, round mouthfeel, correct bitterness.
Very clean, true Bock.

2013.01-04, draught at the brewpub, 7% ABV, 6-5-7-3-13=34
Amber color, with small creamy head. Mild malt aroma, some straws. Good body strength; some malt flavor, light caramel, moderate sweetness, and low bitterness; there is a light trace of Lager yeast fruitiness.
Nice, but not exciting; Chuckanut does better.

As part of a sampler tray during my visit to Bellingham. Attractive orange copper color with a fine and fleeting white head. Bright and crisp, not shy and subtle like other of the style. A bite at the end but not because of hops. A touch cidery. Interesting sand unexpected

Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Fiery amber, strong carbonation, large frothy white head, nice lacing.   Mealy nose, bready, slight fusels (very minor).   Smells like a hefty Blonde Bock.   Semi sweet up front, bready, certainly in the bock sense.   Clean on the backside, slight sweet grassiness.   Good malt base overall.   Really enjoyable.   Smidgen of apple or pear skin too.   Interesting beer.   Would have again for sure.

Medium chestnut colour. Light but toast-accented aroma. Very earthy, caramelly, toasty with accents of nuts. Still a bit thin, like many of their other lagers. Needs oomph.

On tap at naked city brewpub in seattle. A real nice strong bock bier. Dark and filling with a good roasted character.

Was listed as Chuckanut Bock Bier on tap at Naked City. Nice sweet aroma, lots of toasted malts and some toffee and frutiy notes too. Pours a nice auburn color with no head. Lots of toasty sweetness, very malty, some fruit, clean finish. A touch of alcohol warmth. Super clean and well done as all their lagers are. I really enjoy what this brewery is doing with their German Style beers. More please.
