COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the city of Köln, Germany (pronounced Cologne) they drink and brew Kolsch Beer and the brewers’ guild has protected it since 1254. Kolsch is a top-fermented ale, a throwback to the days before lagers took over the Germanic world. Cologne, far closer to Brussels than to Munich, has always had close links to the Low Countries, and these links extended to the local beer culture. The Kolsch offers the simple pleasures of a well crafted beer. It is very pale in color, and the aromatics are a light mélange of hops, malt, and fruit. The Kolsch Beer maintains a bitterness that is quite restrained, although the palate is light-bodied and bone-dry, with a soft malt flavor in the center giving way to a drying, slightly acidic finish. Smoothness is conferred by one to two months of cold conditioning.

Tap at Beveridge in Seattle with commonmac and rosskyle in bumped pint glass. Very light gold with small head. Very little aroma. Grainy and thin. Pretty clean but not much else to it. Fairly typical of the style.

Draught. Pours a very light golden color with a smallish white head on there. Nose is somewhat doughy with hints of corn to it. Taste has grains and bread, with subtle hints of sweetness, and drinks very easy.

CampesinoTino (799) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 24, 2014
Bottle. Appearance is a pale yellowish golden color with a solid inch of whipped foam. Mild aroma of mashed grains, flowery hops and yeast. Flavor is a mix of toasted grains, lemon and grassy hops. The body is well-carbonated with a dry, sour grain finish. Overall, a faithful representation of the style that would pair well with most meals.

Tap at Garage 39. Nice, biscuity, bready nose, right on, with light lemon and grass. Deep golden, clear. Clean, lemony flavor, prefect crispness, a proper kolsch, with bready malts, light, and just enough hops.

Draft - Sweet grains. Pale gold with a rich white head. Sweet grains and some corn with a hit of cleansing bitterness. Very clean and refreshing.
