COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pilsner, the world’s most popular style of beer, was invented in Czech Bohemia, perfected in Germany, and turned into flavorless mass-market fizz in America. Genuine Pilsner is a thing of beauty; it is delicate, sharp, flavorful, aromatic, and appetizing. While most people think pilsner came from Germany, its origins actually come from Bohemia. In 1842, a Bavarian monk smuggled lager yeast from Munich to the Bohemian town of Pilsen. Brewer, Jesef Grolle, used the lager yeast with British malting techniques to make pale malt, but was able to craft an even lighter malt, creating a beer golden in color. Only one year prior, Spaten brewery had stunned and delighted the people of Munich with it’s light bronze Marzen beer, before this time all beers had been dark and murky. Grolle’s Pilsner beer grabbed people’s attention and changed the world of beer. It had the color of burnished gold, and light sparkled straight through the glass, as no one had ever seen before. Cold fermentation left the beer clear and bright after it’s long aging process. The sharp clean bitterness with flowery aromatics was created from local Saaz hops. High levels of natural carbonation in Pilsner result from the long aging process, creating a pillowy white head on top of the golden liquid. People were captivated, and word of the new golden pilsner beer raced past the borders of Bohemia and swept throughout Europe. Genuine pilsner is truly mouthwatering, deeply satisfying, and incomparably refreshing! Original Gravity 12.5 Plato ABV 5% IBU’s 38

Golden-straw colour. Slightly herbal aroma, but fairly light by pilsner standards. Creamy, grainy bready malts are well balanced with earthy and slightly spicy hops.

On tap at Uber. Pours clear brilliant gold with a lacy white head. Aroma of grass, flowers, bread and cat. The catty quality comes forward into the taste.Other than the catty quality, everything about this beer works just great.

Tap at Brouwers. Nice aroma of brady malts, some grass, and a little pepper/mineral notes. Pours bright gold with a nice fluffy head and some lacing. Bready with some sweet grassy notes followed by a hoppier than expected finish. Pretty crisp with a lingering bit of hops. Clean and well done. I have been craving something like this for a while now after drinking some many big beers and crappy coutry lager ticks.

Shaker pint draft at Naked City in Seattle. Pour is clear light golden with only a slim white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of not much, some clean soapiness. Taste is mineral, grass, hay and bright Saaz hops. Taste is bright and floral, but perhaps a bit to edgy for my palate. Decently made, not quite as smooth and drinkable as their Vienna.
