COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pilsner, the world’s most popular style of beer, was invented in Czech Bohemia, perfected in Germany, and turned into flavorless mass-market fizz in America. Genuine Pilsner is a thing of beauty; it is delicate, sharp, flavorful, aromatic, and appetizing. While most people think pilsner came from Germany, its origins actually come from Bohemia. In 1842, a Bavarian monk smuggled lager yeast from Munich to the Bohemian town of Pilsen. Brewer, Jesef Grolle, used the lager yeast with British malting techniques to make pale malt, but was able to craft an even lighter malt, creating a beer golden in color. Only one year prior, Spaten brewery had stunned and delighted the people of Munich with it’s light bronze Marzen beer, before this time all beers had been dark and murky. Grolle’s Pilsner beer grabbed people’s attention and changed the world of beer. It had the color of burnished gold, and light sparkled straight through the glass, as no one had ever seen before. Cold fermentation left the beer clear and bright after it’s long aging process. The sharp clean bitterness with flowery aromatics was created from local Saaz hops. High levels of natural carbonation in Pilsner result from the long aging process, creating a pillowy white head on top of the golden liquid. People were captivated, and word of the new golden pilsner beer raced past the borders of Bohemia and swept throughout Europe. Genuine pilsner is truly mouthwatering, deeply satisfying, and incomparably refreshing! Original Gravity 12.5 Plato ABV 5% IBU’s 38

Serving: from tap at Hopvine Pub. Aroma: none noted. Appearance: very small, white, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, dark-yellow body. Taste: lightly sweet initial flavor, and lightly bitter finish with average duration. Palate: light bodied with watery texture and soft-to-lively carbonation. Overall: pretty good.

500 ml bottle. Clear dull golden yellow, lasting firm white froth. Biscuity floral aroma. Sweeter biscuit pils malt taste, floral noble hop, some grassy citrus, lightly bitter. Softer than average carbonation, light bodied, lightly hopped. Good effort, just a bit limp. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

On tap @ Flying Squirrel Pizza. Clear straw pour with a white head. Aroma is kind of grainy, but there is some decent bread and yeasty dough. Light grass and floral hops. Some golden apple as well. Flavor is a bit on the sweet side. Some decent grassy hop bitterness. Cereal and yeasty bread. Somewhat of an apple character. A bit of a citrus zest note on the back end. Not bad.

Draft. Golden pour. Faint floral aroma. A lot of grassy hops and grain flavor. Wheat finish. Decently refreshing, but not the best.

Bottle. Pours a light golden straw color topped with an ample layer of sea foam. Classic Pils aroma of grassy hops, toasted grains and lemon. Taste is along the same lines with notes of floral hops, honey and toasted grain sweetness. Well done interpretation of the style that will definitely have a place in my fridge, especially come summertime.

Pour on tap at GABF, clear yellow pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of nice soft cracker, biscuit, bread, nice grassy, lemony notes, slight honey. Taste is a hint of grass, nice cracker, biscuit, slight honey, hints of spice and yeast, finishing fairly bitter, dry, clean. Pretty well done.

Pours straw yellow with a finger white head. Smell grain and honey. Taste mellow grain with a bit of a hoppy finish. Crisp and clean, easy drinking. Simple but good.

5% on tap at Craft Beer Base it Osaka. It poured a crystal clear straw gold and had a mild grassy bitter hop aroma. It’s a really nice pils with a crisp bitter hop bite & a dry finish. Very solid. A good example of the style.
