On draft at the brewpub in Belloingham, WA.. Came in the pint glass a copper color with an off-white head. Nose of an ashtray with distinct smoke. Medium body and an exceptionally smooth mouth feel. Flavor is is burnt bacon with good malts and a nice smoky finish. Well balance and very easy to drink, I like this one a lot.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Naked City Taphouse in Seattle. Pour is dark golden, clear, with a very small off white head. Aroma is very faint, really not much there at all. Perhaps a touch of toasty maltiness. The taste reveals the smoked malt, and its really nicely melded into a solid malty, hay lager. The smoke is very much a complement to the base beer. The smoked malt carries the aftertaste, which is very clean. Really nice beer, and very drinkable. Smoked malt was a bit of a palate killer, but who cares this was tasty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Light copper color. Frothy white head. Massively deep smoked Gouda, sweetish malty nose. The mouth is super clean and full of smoke, not so dissimilar to Schenkeler. Big sweet smokey finish. Very much cherry wood flavors. Very well executed. Fantastic.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft @ Brouwers; clear light orange with thin white head; aromas of light smoked malts, caramel and nuts; drinks with lovely smooth texture and mouthfeel of malty goodness; nice level of smokiness with a raw almost fruity texture; dry subtle smoke; good stuff and one I’ll drink again the next time I see it

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught from Bottleworks. Transparent copper-colored appearance. Doesn’t look impressive. Bacon and smoke are noticed, while giving it a quick sniff. A subtle malt sweetness compliments the light smoke and cooked bacon flavors. The texture is great; it provides just the right amount of body . An eas drinker, with great flavors.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Good Beer Faucets in Shibuya. It was listed at 5.5% so maybe it is a different beer(Marzen Rauch). The aroma was a pleasant smokiness, the pour was a great amber color with a minimal head. The flavor was very nice but possibly a little too smokey.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap. Pours orange yellow with some off-white clings. Smells of dough, yeast, and sugar with just a slight hint of smoke. The smoke is more pronounced in the taste, however, combining with breadiness and toasted malts. Still mild.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
I like the idea. Low alcohol, light smoke, low hopped LAGER rauchbier....good idea, really it is. This beer falls short because it is underattenuated and the smoke profile does not balance out the underattenuated sweetness. The smoked malt is slightly evident in the aroma and a bit savory on the palate, however it is quickly overrun by the sinewy sugar sweetness left over from either a low attenuating lager yeast or incomplete fermentation. Some Rauch Biers are full of smoke, some are too boozy, however this one needs a little bit more of both.
