fiulijn (5860), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jan 10, 2007 Draught at the brewpub Amber color; thin head. The aroma shows some good malt and hop. Some malt taste, a bit weak, a lot of caramel and a strong hopping, partially aromatic and resiny. LilKem (1169), Marietta, Ohio, USA Mar 4, 2005 Lacy head with sour smell, REALLLY thin, and not much flavor. easy to drink but not as enjoyable as it should have been Spiesy (2331), Global Citizen, Greater London, England Jan 11, 2004 Draught, at the Chumley’s, NY.</br> Amber with a reddish hue. Decent lacy head. Rather sharp & cold. Not so much body, flavour or aroma as we’ve been having but drinkable. Thin but drinkable is the final consensus. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA May 23, 2003 Updated: Dec 8, 2003Perhaps one's best choice when sitting in Chumley's is to order a pint o' the Drennan's Red (a better alternative is leaving altogether and walking three blocks to the Blind Tiger Ale House, but let's assume you're unable to leave because you've broken a leg skiing or you can't find the door in this hidden, remote 1920s speakeasy). Anyway, the Red is a decent amber ale with considerably more malt than their Bulldog Bitter and less hoppiness. That makes it a slightly underhopped amber with much more chocolate undertones than you might expect.
