COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a very unique and special beer as it was brewed with herbs rather than hops. The Ambrosia pours a hazy light amber color. The nose is citrusy, fruity, minty potpourri, and the flavor is quite similar. The sweetness of the beer is balanced with the floral and citrus tones and a strong citrusy tartness is detectable in the finish. A long lingering aftertaste sticks with you and begs you to take another drink. A slight hint of yeastiness in this unfiltered beer is also present. Legally, I had to add hops. I put in a handful of Perles

Pale golden pour with a thin white head. The nose is a little bit soft and earthy with a bit of rosemary, thyme and some soft floral sweetness as well. A touch of nice fruitiness as well and lots of lean malt. Very dry and crackery with a nice linger floral/spicy character. Really tasty brew.

On tap: light amber pour and fairly clear, nose of citrus and herbal, tastes the same, word is the herbs used in this brew are hyssop and lemon balm. A decent gruit.

Tap @ church. Isn’t this technically a gruit? Golden orange pour, reall smooth and herbal. Smooth body, nice mouthfeel, sweet caramel malts, juniper and oregano. Good concept.

On tap at Church on our way to RBSG. Pours a clear treacle hued gold with a thin white head. Sweet, super caramel and honey, bready. Way too sweet. Smooth with some very light and effervescent carbonation. Soft candy, even more sweetness. Honey and a light malt and faint bitterness on the finish.

This poured a semi cloudy yellow color with a white head. Aroma was lots of sweet artificial blueberry and orange smell with some wheatyness there too. Flavor was sweet artiuficial fruits and some perfumey medicinal tastes too. Just strange and not very appetizing

Clear yellow color. Flowery aroma with some herb. Flavor is simila-citrus, light mint and a floral ending. Quite sweet. Decent beer.

UPDATED: APR 19, 2011 Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a medium yellow-golden color with a small white head that faded quickly. The aroma was citric, herbal and tangy. The flavor was dry, tangy and citric with a moderate herbal presence and notes of cherry, bamboo shoots and oregano showing through. The finish was long, tangy, tart, herbal and fruity. Medium body. Interesting.

2/18/2010: Church Brew The Non-Conformist... Aroma: Fermenting apples; funky incense. Appearance: Golden copper color; fairly still appearance; lacking a head. Flavor: Toasted malts; hibiscus flowers; a fruitiness that is difficult to describ (mango?); herbs, light sumac?, hemp?, incense. Palate: Medium-bodied; soft; little carbonation. Overall: I never was able to find out what was in this beer!

Draught (14°P, 1.056 OG, 10 IBU, 5.5% ABV) at Church Brew Works in Pittsburgh, PA. Rating #1 for this beer.
