zebracakes (959), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 29, 2006 On tap @ the Church Brew Works. Cloudy amber with white head. Aroma is metallic, apricot, peach, and musty. Flavor is cheese, malt, fruit, and herbs. This beer is more complex than most beers from the Church. Dogbrick (2166), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 21, 2006 Sample at the brewpub. Rich amber color with a thin beige head and sheets of lacing. Aroma of earthy malts and a pinch of hops. Medium body with a sweet flavor profile of malt and caramel, as well as a good amount of hops to balance. The finish is dry and hoppy. Alcohol shows up a little on the back end too. All in all this is decent. Dorwart (1593), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Aug 19, 2006 Sampled from a growler. Light carbonation with a thin sudsy head of fine bubbles. Kind of sloppy. Dark hazy orange in color. Malty, little sweet, little caramel. Very indistinct aromas. Mildly sweet flavor but yet has a dry and bitter palate. Hint of caramel and roasted malts. Finish is a little dry and bitter. Little bit of a chalky finish. Alcohol is really not present in the flavor. A decent brew that has a good malty backbone to carry the bitterness. Thanks pmarsch for picking this one up. Aurelius (2443), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2006 Hazy, woody, medium brown with a frothy bone head. Pruney, toasted malt aroma. Sweetish, fruity, good bittering, slightly floral and bubblegum flavor over wood. Buttery mouth. Well-balanced. The one nugget that I pulled out of a trip to this joing. At times a bit of brine. Salt, pepper, vanilla. Nice complexity. SB (287), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 6, 2006 On-tap @CBW. Poured cloudy copperish. Bubbly white head with fizz. Aroma was faint but malty. Flavor was tangy, sweet in the middle, honey notes were present, bready, chewy, and spicey. No hop bitterness at all. Medium bodied, fizzy mouthfeel.
