dpjuart (555), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 26, 2007 9/12/07 - Growler pour courtesy of 誰aka. Black w/ brown minimal head. Smells of cold coffee w/ cream/hazelnut, nut brown-esque. Tastes of nut and roast, with hints of coffee and malt. No discernable hop flavor. Interesting beer. Pretty darn good. Dogbrick (2228), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 3, 2007 Growler from a traveling friend. Pours flat dark brown (almost black) with a medium thin light brown head with fair retention. Stringy lacing. The aroma is all hazelnut and peanut brittle, very unique. Medium body and smooth with hazelnut being the dominant flavor. Other flavors like malt, pecan and coffee are present as well. The finish is chocolatey and nutty and lingering. Overall this beer definitely stands apart from other Stouts with the amount of hazelnut. While I doubt I would enjoy drinking it all night I liked it just fine as a pint. zebracakes (981), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 3, 2007 On tap at the CBW. Color is tar with tan head. Aroma is super hazelnut, slight molasses and popcorn. Flavor is hazelnut, raspberry, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, fruit cake, and popcorn. This is a festive Christmas beer. It痴 only Sept. though. cheapdark (1559), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 3, 2007 Not sure what to say about this one. The aroma is like hazelnuts old wet wood and cheerios! Very unique and quite different than anything I ever tasted. Yes hazelnuts abound but I知 not sure if this is easy to stomach. A hazelnut character that flows from the aroma to the taste and finally to the finish. I知 not much on hazelnuts so I guess you値l love this or hate it. The hazelnut thing is so overwhelming. It is the mainstay of this brew. Its one of the most one sided brews I致e tasted lately. I cannot even tell if this is a stout , dark lager or a porter. If you like hazelnuts, seek this out. You値l love it. Pretty flat for the most part.
