COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
About 150 years ago, this dark style lager was first brewed in Munich, Germany. Our version is fairly dark in color, but don’t be afraid. It is a perfect example that dark beers are not always strong beers. The body is surprisingly mellow, and the alcohol content is a bit lower than most people might think. It has a wonderfully clean and roasty aroma. Hop bitterness levels are kept in line, but is has a noticeable hop flavor. Our Pious Monk Dunkel finishes crisp and clean as a lager should.

Bright fiery brown color with a smallish taupe colored head. Caramel aromas with a accent of darker toasted malts. HInts of floral hops as well. Sweet toasty flavors mix with a mild caramel and light honey taste. Quite roasty and toasty in the finish. A rather simple brew, a touch sweet more like a toasty amber.

Thanks to Tedwarhc for this bottle. Served in a tulip. Pours a bright light copper-brown color with a very, very thin white head and only a bubble or two on top after a few seconds. No lacing. The nose brings some light caramel and bread crust along with faint earthy hops. Flavor is a nice combination of lightly-toasted bread and very mild caramel along with a touch of sweetness and light hops. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation; fairly chewy. Refreshing bitterness on the back-end. Good brew. Serving type: bottle

Bottle thanks to Daniel. Pours out a ruby/brown color with a small white head. The aroma is mostly toasted malts, some light fruits and perhaps s touch of banana. The flavor is similar; lots of toasted malts, some bananas, clove and something odd I can’t put my finger on. Fizzy and full of flavor. Decent overall.

Thanks to lithy for this one - Clear, cola-ish brown, with a nice off-white head. Toasty, slightly smokey aroma. Roasty, toasty flavor, too. Plus some coffee, some smokey notes, and, uh, mint? Maybe?

Bottle. Pours pretty flat. Copper. Sweet aroma with malt, chocolate and spiced brown sugar. Flavour seems flat. Thin with notes from the scent and a eucalyptus edge.

Poured a hazy dark amber color with a thin off-white head. Sweet and roasty malt aroma. Dark fruits and chocolate run underneath with a hint of smoke and raisins. The flavor started with toasted malt, toffee and some fruitiness. Notes of golden raisins and light chocolate at the tail. Semi-dry finish with a mild bitterness. The mouthfeel was lively and acidic.

06 State College Brew Expo. Pours a translucent goldne amber with a bubbly off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, caramel, toffee, no hops present but pleasant. Flavor along the same lines.
