This poured a brown color with a small white head. Aroma was slightly roasted, and a bit nutty, some sweetness too. Flavor was very watery and bland, but nothing offensive, some sweetness and slightly roasted.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bright fiery brown color with a smallish taupe colored head. Caramel aromas with a accent of darker toasted malts. HInts of floral hops as well. Sweet toasty flavors mix with a mild caramel and light honey taste. Quite roasty and toasty in the finish. A rather simple brew, a touch sweet more like a toasty amber.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweetish dark malt aroma, without molasses. Woody, musty malting. Initially seems drier than it finishes out. Rather simple. Finishes sweet with a medium-light bitterness. Medium mouth.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 13, 2008 If pious means sacred or majestic, then this ain’t pious. However, a dark lager with a sweet aroma. Pretty brown but not dark brown in my steelers mug. OK flavor with a little syrup feel to it. Has a bitter finish but is not lasting.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a hazy dark amber color with a thin off-white head. Sweet and roasty malt aroma. Dark fruits and chocolate run underneath with a hint of smoke and raisins. The flavor started with toasted malt, toffee and some fruitiness. Notes of golden raisins and light chocolate at the tail. Semi-dry finish with a mild bitterness. The mouthfeel was lively and acidic.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 7, 2008 [draft - Church Brew Works - Lawrenceville, PA] Poured a medium dark brown color with a very, very thin and quickly dissipating white head. Light roasted malt aroma with a touch of burnt toast and brown sugar. Crisp taste of roasted malts with a hint of sweetness and burnt biscuits. Not as heavy a flavor as I thought it would be from looking at it. Very clean.
