COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A slightly tart Autumn Saison brewed with rose hips. And it’s red. The Red Nebyllek pours a slightly hazy light red. The aroma is dominated by the spiciness of the yeast with a hint of fruity apple. The flavor is much the same. At first, the peppery, gingery spiciness of the yeast asserts itself but doesn’t overwhelm. The small amount of caramel malt leaves just enough body and sweetness to balance the tartness of the rose hips and the soft bitterness of the yeast’s phenols. Hop levels were kept deliberately low, but also provide a touch off unobtrusive bitterness.

This poured an almost ruby red color with a beige head. Aroma was of yeast, light earthy notes, and some sort of flower insense. Flavor was light spice, fruity yeasty character, and potpouri. I think the rose hips could have been left out in this one and it would have been a bit better.

Hazy yellow gold, no head. Clove, corriander white flower and banana on the nose. More banana and clove as well as lemon curd and rose on a round, rich palate. Very good.

Tap at CBW, really unoffensive offering, I guess if you ever wanted a Saison this would be a perfectly fine offering. Slight pepper/spice note, not as pronounce as others.. a lighter straw taste that is nicely present but not overbearing.

FROTHINGSLOSH (3977) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 18, 2012

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a slightly cloudy yellow color (no red tinge at all) with a medium sized soapy white head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was tart vague citrus and apple. The flavor was tart and tangy wood, apple and a touch of perfume. Long tangy and fruity finish. Medium body. Ok.
