COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s time for our next Specialty #1 beer and the hop heads should love this one. The beer is a Rye PA, which is a IPA brewed with 50% rye malt. Rye has been used for ages as a base component for not only whiskey but also beer. Our Rye PA is a little lighter in color and body than our Thunderhop IPA. It is also lower in alcohol, we did this because in the hot Pittsburgh Summer we wanted to produce a nice thirst quenching brew. The aroma of this brew is citrus and spice. The citrus comes from the dry hopping process in which we added 11 pounds of Amarillo hops to the fermenter. The spice is from the rye malt. You will notice upon first sip that the beer is a little bready and spicy. This is also from the addition of the rye malt. The beer finishes with a nice thirst quenching dry bitterness. I hope everyone enjoys our new Summer seasonal. 12°

9/5/08 - On cask at Brew Pub. Pours brown with finger thick, off-white head. Malty, brown sugar, bready nose with floral hop character. Smoother mouth feel with a solid bitterness, sweet, brown sugar/caramel backbone. Rye character is noticible, but isn’t the only aspect. Still a good dose of caramel maltiness. A great balance to it. Not bad.

Draft @ Church Brew. Pours a clear, medium cola-brown color; very light tan head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Tea, wet malts, and basic red fruits in the aroma; slightly bland. Relaxed carbonation. Medium mouthfeel: tea leaves, toasty malts, and plenty of soft earthy bitterness; no astringency, but a little one-dimensional at the core. Lengthy, nicely dry finish: toasty malts, tea, and dried fruits.
