COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after St. Arnold of Metz the Patron Saint of Brewers, we are introducing our St. Arnold Raspberry Ale. He professed to his congregation that beer was nutritious and safer to drink than water. Brewed using the second runnings from our Belgian Trippel , the St. Arnold Raspberry Ale is a unique and interesting example. At first appearance the St Arnold Raspberry Ale has a hazy reddish color. Since the yeast used is unique, we left the beer unfiltered so that the character of the yeast would carry over (plus it’s a good source of B vitamins). Notice the aroma. It is complex and fruity, truly Belgian in character. As you sip the beer you will notice a prickly bite from the CO2 and a medium bodied mouthfeel. The dominant flavors are light malty mouthfeel with a nice raspberry finish. The hop profile was left low in order for the raspberry sweetness to be enjoyed.

Raspberry aroma. Hazy ginger ale appearance. Fruity to an extent but not sweet. Very similar to many other fruit beers in that it tastes pretty much tastes like any old beer with some fruit hints. Didn’t seem to have any carbonation. Not bad!

A- Cloudy pale rose/straw yellow body with decent white head. Head fades to a nice collar and leaves behind some lacing in the glass. Nice appearance for an unfiltered raspberry wheat beer. S- Light smell of wheat malt and fresh raspberries. T- Nice light and crisp taste. Wheat malt upfront with a touch of raspberries and clean finish. Raspberry taste lingers. The raspberry essence used is not too sweet or too sour. Just the right amount are used. P- High carbonation and light body. Goes down easy but with no real character. O- This is a good drinkable wheat beer I would have again. Well done by CBW. Reminds me somewhat of Great Divide Raspberry Ale. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 08-12-2007 02:37:02

On tap at the Church. Hazy orange gold, white head. Aroma is raspberry, tomato, malt--a potentially unfortunate indication of things to come. Flavor is diluted raspberry, grass, and slightly rancid cooking oil.

Draft, Church Brew Works. Pours a cloudy pink grapefruit appearance; minimal head retention. Sweet, perfumy and light raspberry presence in the nose. Medium mouthfeel: minimally tart raspberries and mixed berry character upfront; some bready and toasted malt character as well; better density than their standards; a bit overemphasis on the syrupy sugar character, but still has a pleasant Belgian and fruit presence. Medium, perfumy and berry finish; some bread.
