COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The new Specialty Beer #3 is a Imperial Pilsener. This is a relative new beer to be introduced. Our version is a kicked up version of a Czech Pilsener. The beer’s origin city is Pilsen, Czechoslovakia. In 1842 it was reported that a Bavarian monk smuggled a pot full of lager yeast from a German brewery to a brewery in Pilsen. The last secret to making consistent lager beers was uncovered. It was the special yeast. Another ingredient that made the original pilsners unique was the very soft water in Pilsen (i.e. low mineral content). Pittsburgh has relatively soft water to begin with. Our Czech Pils was brewed with the softest water I could make. Our version goes American all over the traditional Pils. We doubled the alcohol and IBU’s and made this classic style our own. The color of the Imperial Pils is yellow to golden. You will find it slightly darker than the Celestial Gold. If you carefully swirl the glass and take a big whiff, you will get a full but delicate fresh hop aroma from only the best noble hop - Czech Saaz. The flavor profile is bold and malty with a distinct hop flavor. It finishes crisp and clean with a lingering Saaz bitterness. 60 IBUs

Brewed in the USA.... On tap at the Brew Works !!! Pours a golden color with a thin white head. Aroma of mild hops, citrus, malts and spices. Taste of hops, citrus, alcohol and grass. The mouthfeel was kind of pungent, not sure what it was? Not one of my favorites.

Don’t you just love a beer that has the same first name as you? Pale ubitous color and appearance. with a nice foamy head during the pour which fades to a tea froth after it settles. Very little aroma but the nose knows its pretty clean, strong, aromaless volatile fumes. Interestingly sharp initial taste bud sensations without being heavily hopped. Nearly acrid but in a good way. Nice lacing I may say, like yer good girl’s lingerie. Quite strong as the session continues. Does not hide the alky impact well. A little more clean than most impy pilsners. Fisnish is just plain lingering and annoying.

Draft @ Church Brew. Pours a hazy, golden-orange color; thin off-white head with patchy lacing. Good amounts of dense, oily fruitiness, earthy bitterness, and touches of honey in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy earthy and citrus bitterness, candy sugar, and dried oranges; very slight astringency; lightly bitter, chewy, and reasonably soft for the style. Lengthy finish: bitter earthiness and citrus, chewy sugar, and toasty malts; solidly dry and bitter.

At the Church on tap. And darn it CMUBEERMAN----I gave it the same numerical rating! I have the notebook to prove it :) Clear orange yellow, white head. Aroma is slight citrus, malt, slight candy. Flavor is caramel, malt, grass, slight fruit.

Pretty good stuff...maybe one of the better offerings I’ve had from church brew. Pours a slightly hazy honey color with little head. Aroma is spicey and citrusy hops...lots of sweet honey too. Flavor is very similar...kind of tangy. Mouthfeel is refreshing and quite carbonated.

Hazy copper body, nice creamy off-white head. Buttery orange hops, healthy dose of caramel. Maybe some wheat? Rindy aroma. Very nice elixir...
