The ThunderHop I.P.A. has an intense bitterness, flavor and aroma. We chose to use two varieties of American hops in the brewing process. The color is copper to amber and the aroma is noticeably hoppy due to the use of Glaciers in the dry hop process. You will also pick up a complexity from fruit-like esters. The body is big and malty with some caramel sweetness.

12oz bottle thanks to Mrchopin. Pours clear dark orangish amber with small light tan head. Aroma is citrus, pine, floral hops, sweet malt and some spices. Flavor is citrus, pine, hops, caramel and sweet malt and finishes bitter. Lots of sweet malt. Not enough hops for a double in my opinion but it is not a bad beer just not a good DIPA.

12 ounce bottle. The pour is very dark amber orange with a dense tan frothy head. The nose is light with some floral piny notes and background malt dust. The flavor is a bit like a solvent or a pine cleaner. Very thin with scrubbing carbonation and a lingering grapefruit bitterness. Tick.

CPLYFO 09. 12 oz bottle. Pours a slight hazy light amber- orange with a thin lasting head. Aroma is fragrant with floral hops, flowery, lavender, and spice- with a thin crackery malt backbone. Phenols throughout with a harsh plastic note int eh flavor esp as it warms, slightly harsh bitter hop character in the end as well - lemon lime zest and floor cleaner- solvent-like. meh.

FRO Throwdown: Copper hazy. Citrus and resin, grapefruit. Serious grapefruit hop flavors, bready malts in the background. Wow on the hop flavoring. Long bitter finish.

Bottle from the Otown throwdown. Deep copper color with a light head. Aroma is ok on this one with citrus and pine. But flavor is awful, tastes like a zip lock bad. Really really not good.

Bottle thanks to someone I forgot... Mr. Chopin? Cletus? Sorry I forgot, but THANKS, YOU! Dark pour for IPA. Simcoe and piny nose, with similar taste and a good bit of malt sweetness. Some soapy notes.

Bottle thanks to MrChopin. Dark red copper color with a lasting off white head. Very grassy, piney hop aroma. A bit thin in body with some caramel and then citrus hops in the finish.

Bottle shared by durhambeer - thanks, Bob! Dark enough pour makes this a handsome DIPA. Fresh hop nose is nice and grassy. I honestly didn’t know this was a double, since it tasted quite modest, like a knockoff of Founders Centennial with a different appearance to it. Slightly thin mouthfeel, not a lot of complexity, but okay.

Bottle shared by durhambeer. Thanks Bob. Pretty good double ipa, but nothing to waste your time or liver with considering the far superior options within the style.

Thanks durhambeer for sharing. Pours a reddish amber with a one finger creamy orange head. The nose is citrusy, sweet, piney, sweet malt, a tad spicy, smells like Simcoe to me. The flavor is spicy, has a nice hop balance, earthy piny hops, pronounced bitterness, tastes like Simcoe too. Palate shows more of a harsh bitterness than I’d like. Overall I enjoyed this.
