COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION The Weizenbock is here. It is a variation on a Weizen beer. Remember, weizen is German for wheat. Furthermore, a bock beer is a big, malty beer which is lower in hops. In Germany, for a beer to be considered a bock it must have an original gravity (sugar content before fermentation) higher than 16.0ºP or 1.064 S.G. If a beer has a high original gravity it will most likely have a high final alcohol content. We can conclude from this that the Weizenbock is a strong German-style wheat beer. Our Weizenbock is a nice example of the style. It was brewed entirely with European malts, 50% of which is wheat malt. The other malts contribute to a well rounded and full bodied maltiness. The hops used are high grade, fine flavored hops. They were used because of the delicate and well balanced bitterness and flavor they impart. The yeast used is a very characteristic weizen yeast. This is the yeast which produces the banana/clove/vanilla-like aromas. However, the yeast aroma may be in competition with the maltiness and the alcohol.
