This is a dark honey beer, very sweet with a smooth flavour.

Fresh takeout from the brewery (courtesy of Ma and Pa Jenner), and my 50th (rated) CE brew. Pitch with dirty tan suds. Candy sweet nose exuding dark malt, pruney dried fruit, liquorice, honey, ashtray. Sweetish mouth from the honey, but firmly underpinned with roast and hops. Smoky chocolate malt leaning towards a stout, but the mouthfeel is light and mild-like, without being wishy-washy. A robust, tasty melding of flavours, and a subtle use of honey for once.

A Mes rate: cask at the Three Judges, Glasgow.
Very dark red brown with an off white rim of head. Sweet malt and chocolate aroma. More of the same in the flavour plus a big hit of coffee. Pleasant creamy malt finish. Straight down the line but decent all the same.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Coventry BF. A black beer with a roasty smoky aroma featuring a little fruit also. The taste has chocolate and a little lactic sweetness. Some fruits. Nice. I didn’t discern any honey.

Cask at Coventry Beer Festival 08. Really liked this: top festival beer in fact. Brown with a small off white head. Strong, lush pear drop aroma. Sweet taste with berry fruits and ash, followed by liquorice and coffee. Some bitterness. Complicated to unravel, and I don’t think I’m half way there. And very good.

Cask in the three judges. Alround rating. Plastic, sweet malts, floural hop, chcolate. A nice dark ale infact.
