At the Ridge Lane brewery. Brilliant gold pint with white suds. A puckering blast of quinine-bitter American hop zestiness. One of the bitterest pints I’ve ever had. Very sulphurous, very grapefruity, very biscuity. Very everything. A hint of shampoo to finish. Sweet biscuity afters cushion the hop punch. At least as bitter as XX Bitter, Orval et al. Musty hopsack and Burton snatch aroma. Tangerine, grapefruit, oats and pencil shavings. As hoppily bitter as an American IPA, if not as lip-smackingly fruity. Bonus point for sheer hop pungency.

Cask Handpump from the outside festival bar at the Star Inn, Huddersfield 03/12/2005 Clear golden coloured very hoppy and citrus flavoured with a crisp and slightly bitter malt finish.

Cask handpump at The Wellington, Birmingham. Golden with a short head. Slight melon and lemon scent, but not much. Slight carbonation and a slightly oil finish. Bitter but only a hint of hop, mainly berry fruit here.
