Ungstrup (23960) - Oamaru, - APR 17, 2009
Cask at Lord Nelson, Copenhagen. A nut-brown beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and nuts as well as light notes of butterscotch. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and butterscotch as well as light notes of bread, leading to a dry and very lightly bitter finish. The body is a bit thin.

Cask handpull at the brewery tap. Honey gold speckled with lace and a thin edge of white. Caramel dripped on cereal box aroma, faint rub of hop, conifer. Creamy and insipid with a wash of almond and caramel despite the strength. Honey, cereals. Deathly dull. I used to rave about this brewery.

Cask conditioned gravity dispense Criterion Leicester. A copper coloured beer with an off-white wisp of head and lacing. This is a fairly restrained hoppy beer with just some late orange raising it from the ordinary. Fruity and bitter and a grower.
