Cask, handpump at The Chequers, Little Gransden, Cambs, home of the ’Son of Sid Brewery’ Pours amber, has a sweet fruity nose and a goodly dollop of honey and malts to boot. Tasty beer if a touch sweet at times the honey makes its mark again and swamps those juicy summer fruits a little, plenty of body and quite a substantial mouthfeel. Enjoyable stuff, but could be tweaked in some areas to be even better. A6 A4 F7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Cask handpull at the brewtap. Bright copper with white specks. Enticing musky snout dragging in earth, red apple, cherry, hop cone jelly fruit. Hop promise a bit lost in the mouth; caramel, cherry, mushy hay and too much alcohol. Fresh bread and long sweeet biscuity afters retrieve some alt-like quality. Quite a grower: wouldn’t disgrace itself in Dusseldorf.
